Udaipur: The seventh edition of the much-awaited cricket tournament of Mewar’s tourism and hospitality sector, “Mewar Tourism Cup 2026,” commenced grandly on Thursday at the Field Club ground. The tournament will continue until April 5 and will also feature day-night matches under floodlights. The competition is being played in the T20 format.
On the opening day, in the first match, Uday Vilas Hotel defeated Parallel Hotel by seven wickets. Batting first, Parallel Hotel scored 137 runs in 20 overs. Prakash Meena remained unbeaten with 39 runs, while O.P. Jangid contributed 23 runs. For Uday Vilas, Kush Negi and Giriraj Kumar took two wickets each. In response, Uday Vilas chased down the target with four balls to spare. Shubham Singh played a शानदार unbeaten half-century, scoring 53 runs, while Sawan Mishra added 35 runs. Shubham Singh was named Man of the Match for his excellent batting performance.
In the second match, Hotel Lakend defeated Radisson Blu Hotel by eight wickets. Batting first, Radisson Blu was bowled out for 90 runs in 16.4 overs. For Lakend, Jyotish Bhatt delivered an outstanding bowling performance, taking four wickets, while Mohammad Idrish and Vicky Kumar took two wickets each. Lakend chased the target in just 9.5 overs, with Ravi Sugerwal scoring an unbeaten 31 runs and Hemendra contributing 26 runs. Jyotish Bhatt was awarded Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling.
Organizing Secretary Yaduraj Singh Krishnawat informed that the tournament features participation from 10 major hotel teams and 4 other teams associated with the tourism and hospitality industry. Prominent hotel groups participating include Taj, Oberoi, Aurika, Radisson, ITC, Fairmont, Parallel, Lakend, Trident, and Leela. Additionally, teams from MTC, RTC, and events groups are also part of the competition.
The main objective of the Mewar Tourism Cup is to bring together professionals from the tourism sector on a single platform, promoting coordination, camaraderie, sportsmanship, and stronger relationships within the industry. The tournament is not just about cricket but also a celebration of unity, participation, and positive connections within the tourism and hospitality community.
