RISMS-SG Portal Launched to Digitize and Accelerate Approval Processes
New Delhi: In a significant move to enhance efficiency, transparency, and inter-agency coordination in infrastructure development, Nitin Gadkari and Ashwini Vaishnaw launched the **Portal for Rail-Road Inspection and Stages Management – Steel Girders (RISMS-SG)** in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The RISMS-SG portal has been developed to digitize critical approval and inspection processes associated with the construction of road over-bridges (ROBs), including **Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs), Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) MCY, W1.1, and construction-stage inspections of steel girders**.
The portal enables end-to-end online submission, verification, query raising and resolution, approvals, inspection scheduling, and uploading of inspection reports, photographs, and test results. It supports a complete audit trail and real-time monitoring capabilities. Currently, ROB construction requires multiple approvals from Indian Railways, including General Arrangement Drawings (GAD), structural drawings, QAPs, WPS, and construction-stage inspections of steel girders. While GAD and structural drawings are processed through the RRCAS portal, QAP, WPS, and inspection-related processes are largely handled offline, often causing delays and limiting real-time tracking and coordination among stakeholders.
The newly launched RISMS-SG portal addresses these challenges by providing an integrated digital platform for all key stakeholders, including road-owning departments, Indian Railways, contractors, fabricators, and inspection agencies.
This initiative is expected to reduce approval and inspection timelines from approximately 12 months to 3–4 months, improving project efficiency, transparency, and accountability. It will play a critical role in ensuring timely completion of ROBs and railway bridges, strengthening connectivity nationwide and accelerating infrastructure delivery.
