40-Day Theatre Workshop Concludes with Powerful Stage Performance

Udaipur: On the occasion of World Theatre Day, the West Zone Cultural Centre organized a powerful stage performance of the play “Parsai Ka Sansar” at Darpan Auditorium, Shilpgram, Udaipur, marking the conclusion of a 40-day production-oriented theatre workshop. The auditorium was packed, and the audience highly appreciated the impactful प्रस्तुति.

Director Dr. Ashwin Dalvi informed that the workshop, which began on February 20, provided participants with training under renowned theatre artist Prof. Suresh Sharma, former director of the National School of Drama, New Delhi, and the North Central Zone Cultural Centre. The trainees worked diligently to learn various aspects of theatre, including acting, dialogue delivery, and stagecraft, and presented the play on stage for the first time.

The play was directed by Prof. Suresh Sharma, a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, with Tanay Vivek Pandey as assistant director. Under his skilled direction, the production emerged as a powerful theatrical composition, effectively using expressions, gestures, symbols, and performances. The acting by all participants was highly commendable. Musical support was provided by Mehboob Hussain on harmonium and Tushar Rao on dholak.

Theatre enthusiasts praised the initiative of the cultural centre and expressed gratitude for organizing such meaningful events. At the end of the program, certificates were distributed to all trainees, along with best wishes for their bright future.

Among those present on the occasion were Deputy Director (Programs) Pawan Amarawat, Assistant Director (Finance & Accounts) Durgesh Chandwani, Superintending Engineer C.L. Salvi, Program Executives Hemant Mehta, Rakesh Mehta, Dayaram Suthar, Deepak Navlakha, Siddhant Bhatnagar, along with other officials, staff members, and distinguished guests from the city. The event was conducted by Dr. Mohita Dixit.

It is noteworthy that the play “Parsai Ka Sansar” is based on the works of renowned satirist Harishankar Parsai, presenting sharp and meaningful satire on contemporary social issues. The performance included adaptations of his famous works such as Nithalle Ki Diary, Ramsingh Ki Training, Rani Nagfani Ki Kahani (a short novel), and Matadeen Chand Par.
