55th Safety Month Concludes at Hindustan Zinc with Pledge for Safety, Health, and Environmental Protection

Chittorgarh: The 55th National Safety Month concluded at the Chanderiya Smelting Complex of Hindustan Zinc Limited with a strong commitment to safety, health, and environmental protection.

Addressing the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest, Senior Inspector of Factories and Boilers, Suraj Prakash Jangid, emphasized that safety is not merely a rule but a habit and a responsibility. He stated that safety does not depend only on rules and machinery, but also on awareness, participation, and accountability of individuals. He highlighted that when everyone understands and adopts safety practices in their work, a truly safe environment can be created.

He further noted that National Safety Day reminds employees and industries of their responsibility toward the safety of people, communities, and the environment. This year’s theme, “Engage, Educate and Empower People to Enhance Safety,” focuses on involving, educating, and empowering individuals to improve safety standards. He stressed that accidents often occur due to lack of knowledge, making continuous learning essential. Employees were also encouraged to report unsafe conditions immediately to prevent accidents.

The program began with the ceremonial lighting of a lamp before the idol of Goddess Saraswati, followed by a safety pledge.

On this occasion, IBU CEO Alok Ranjan stated that safety and health are key pillars in achieving the vision of a developed India. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to safety and emphasized that by thinking about safe methods before performing any task, the goal of zero accidents and zero harm can be achieved. He also expressed the need for the Chanderiya Lead-Zinc Smelter to set benchmarks at national and international levels in safety standards.

General Secretary of the Workers’ Union, Ghanshyam Singh Ranawat, urged employees and officers to avoid any negligence regarding safety and to always prioritize it, contributing actively to national safety initiatives.

Safety Head Balchand Patidar welcomed the guests and shared insights into the year-long safety performance and initiatives. He highlighted various awareness programs conducted not only within the industry but also for home and road safety, in collaboration with the community and administration.

During Safety Week, several activities were organized, including a safety rally, “Run for Safety” marathon, awareness campaigns in residential colonies, training programs in government schools, and competitions such as poster-making, safety model contests, and online quizzes. Winners were awarded during the closing ceremony.

The event also featured street plays performed by teams from Pyro, Hydro, Common, and CPP departments to spread awareness about safety.

Several officials, employees, and business partners were present at the event, including senior representatives and members of the safety department and workers’ union. The program was conducted by Abhishek Kothari.
