The alarming decline in groundwater levels across 54 cities in India is a serious wake-up call.
If immediate action is not taken, the consequences will be borne by both us and future generations.

🔹 Promote Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting
Encourage installation in every home and building through awareness and policy support.
🔹 Utilize Available Funds Effectively
Local authorities should use pending construction-related funds to install harvesting systems before the monsoon.
🔹 Recharge Existing Water Sources
Hand pumps and tube wells must be connected to rainwater recharge systems.

🔹 Preserve Open Spaces for Natural Recharge
Ensure open land along roads to allow rainwater to seep into the ground.
🔹 Make Declarations Mandatory
Require a commitment to rainwater harvesting before property registration.
🔹 Regulate Borewell Drilling
Do not allow borewells without proper recharge systems in place.
🔹 Spread Continuous Awareness
Educate citizens about simple, affordable rainwater harvesting techniques.
🔹 Lead by Example
Public representatives should install systems in their own homes and inspire others.
🔹 Ensure Compliance in Government Buildings
All government structures must have functional rainwater harvesting systems before the rainy season.
🔹 Encourage Through Recognition
Reward citizens and plumbers contributing to water conservation efforts.
If we fail to recharge groundwater today, tomorrow’s water sources may no longer be recoverable—a reality already seen in parts of the world.
Water saved today is life secured tomorrow.
The time to act is now.
