Udaipur: District Collector Gaurav Agrawal conducted a surprise inspection on Tuesday morning at Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital and the Super Specialty Hospital affiliated with RNT Medical College, Udaipur, to review medical services and facilities.
During the inspection, he emphasized the need to ensure better patient facilities, transparency in management, and timely delivery of services.
The Collector first inspected the Outpatient Department (OPD) of Maharana Bhupal Hospital. The hospital administration informed him about measures taken to ensure quick registration, doctor consultations, medicine distribution, and simplified diagnostic processes. While reviewing the QR code–based diagnostic report system, the Collector personally scanned the code to understand how patients access their reports and appreciated the initiative.
He also inspected the token system in the Medicine OPD and reviewed various departments including Senior Citizens, Surgery, Ophthalmology, ENT, and Medical Jurist departments.
Later, at the Super Specialty Hospital, he visited the Plastic Surgery and Endocrinology departments and directly interacted with patients to gather feedback on facilities. At the Trauma Center, he inspected the emergency operation theatre, observation ward, medical emergency unit, cottage wards, CT scan facility, plaster room, and general wards. He directed officials to ensure prompt and high-quality emergency services.
Appreciation for “Setu” and “Mera Aspatal Meri Zimmedari” Initiatives
The RNT administration informed the Collector that around 8,000 to 12,000 patients visit OPDs daily across eight hospitals affiliated with the medical college. Approximately 500 patients are admitted daily, with around 2,500 patients undergoing treatment at any given time.
Under the Chief Minister’s Chiranjeevi Health Scheme (Maa Yojana), the hospitals generate a monthly revenue of ₹7 to ₹9 crore. While reviewing the progress of the new building construction at the women’s hospital, the Collector stressed timely completion.
He also reviewed the QR code–based complaint and suggestion system under the “Mera Aspatal Meri Zimmedari” campaign. Additionally, he appreciated the “Setu” system, which enables real-time monitoring of referred critical patients and ensures immediate treatment upon their arrival at the hospital.
Instructions for Monthly Review Meetings
The Collector directed officials to conduct monthly review meetings to monitor construction work and ensure inter-departmental coordination.
Among those present during the inspection were Principal and Controller Dr. Rahul Jain, Additional Principal Dr. Vijay Gupta, Dr. Kushal Gehlot, Superintendent Dr. R.L. Suman, Media In-charge Dr. Mahendra Singh Rathore, Nursing Superintendent Beena Kumari Verma, Ameen Khan, Om Joshi, Jitendra Bhatnagar, Nirmala Solanki, and other officials.
Concern Over Unauthorized Parking and Private Ambulances
During the visit, the medical college administration highlighted the issue of 70–80 private ambulances and unauthorized vehicle parking within the campus. It was also reported that some private vehicles mislead patients and divert them to private hospitals, negatively affecting the system.
The Collector instructed authorities to take necessary steps to address these issues and improve overall management.
