In a significant initiative to explore the evolving landscape of tourism, Rotary Club Udaipur hosted an engaging talk on “Various Dimensions and Possibilities of Tourism in Udaipur.” The session featured Shikha Saxena, Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, as the chief guest, who shared insightful perspectives on the city’s growing tourism potential.
Highlighting the global stature of Udaipur, she emphasized that the city is no longer confined to its iconic lakes and palaces. Instead, it is rapidly emerging as a hub for heritage tourism, cultural experiences, eco-tourism, and destination weddings. She underlined the importance of innovation, community participation, and the expansion of modern infrastructure to ensure sustainable tourism development.
Shikha Saxena also stressed the role of digital platforms in effectively promoting tourism. Strengthening cleanliness systems and delivering high-quality visitor experiences, she noted, would not only increase tourist footfall but also generate new employment opportunities at the local level. Her address painted a comprehensive picture of tourism as a powerful driver of economic and social growth.
The program began with a warm welcome by Club President Deepak Mehta, who expressed pride in being part of a city as culturally rich and naturally beautiful as Udaipur. He remarked that the city’s unique blend of palaces, lakes, medical facilities, and natural resources makes it truly unmatched on the global map. He also acknowledged the government’s continued investment in tourism development.
Club Secretary Vineet Damani presented an overview of recent activities and formally introduced the guest speaker. The event commenced with a devotional presentation by Mrs. Rajendra Chauhan. Ambalal Bohra honored Shikha Saxena with a traditional ceremonial welcome, while former District Governor Nirmal Singhvi presented her with a memento as a token of appreciation.
The event concluded on an inspiring note, reinforcing the vision of positioning Udaipur as a leading global tourism destination and accelerating its multi-dimensional development trajectory.
