Review of Fertilizer Supply and Management; Collector Issues Directions for Vigilance

Udaipur: An important meeting of the District-Level Fertilizer Distribution Regulatory Task Force and the Monitoring Committee under the Dharti Mata Bachao Abhiyan was held on Monday at the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of District Collector Gaurav Agrawal. The primary objective of the meeting was to ensure uninterrupted supply and smooth management of fertilizers in the district during the upcoming Kharif season.

Joint Director of Agriculture (Extension), Sudhir Verma, informed that during this Kharif season, sowing is expected to take place on approximately 175,000 hectares in Udaipur district, including crops such as maize and soybean. To meet the nutritional requirements of these crops, an estimated demand of 20,000 metric tons of urea, 3,500 metric tons of DAP, 3,500 metric tons of SSP, and 1,500 metric tons of NPK has been projected.

Mr. Verma further stated that the supply of fertilizers in the district is continuously being maintained through both rail and road transport. Currently, sufficient stock is available with distributors, including 3,452 metric tons of urea, 910 metric tons of DAP, 2,460 metric tons of SSP, and 472 metric tons of NPK. The headquarters in Jaipur has also assured that fertilizer supply will be ensured on time as per demand.

Instructions to remain alert

The District Collector directed officials from the Agriculture Department, Agricultural University, ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and managers of various fertilizer companies to remain fully alert in view of the upcoming season. He emphasized that there should be no shortage of fertilizers for farmers and that supply and distribution must be managed efficiently.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Collector (Administration) Deependra Singh Rathore, ADM (City) Jitendra Ojha, Sub-Divisional Officer (Girwa) Avula Sai Krishna, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad Virmaram, and other senior officials from concerned departments.
