Cinema of the Year Awards 2025 Announced

Jaipur,  The winners of Cinema of The Year (CTA) – Indian Cinema Awards (ICA) 2025 have been officially announced, recognising excellence in Hindi cinema released between January and December 2025. This marks the inaugural edition of the awards, jointly presented by the Jaipur International Film Festival and New Delhi Film Festival.

Unlike conventional award ceremonies, ICA 2025 was conducted in a non-physical format, focusing purely on merit, transparency, and cinematic excellence. The nominations, earlier घोषित on April 8, were made available on the official platforms of both festivals.

The awards celebrate outstanding achievements in storytelling, performances, and technical brilliance, showcasing the evolving strength of Indian cinema on a global stage.

Major Winners

The film Haq emerged as the biggest winner, securing the Best Film honour along with the Best Actress award for Yami Gautam. Vicky Kaushal was awarded Best Actor for his performance in Chhaava.

Best Director was awarded to Aditya Dhar for Dhurandhar. In supporting roles, Boman Irani won Best Supporting Actor for The Mehta Boys, while Seema Biswas received Best Supporting Actress for Jolly LLB 3.

In writing, Homebound was recognised for its screenplay by Shreedhar Dubey, Neeraj Ghaywan, and Varun Grover. The music category saw a collaborative win featuring composers like Mithoon, Sachet–Parampara, Vishal Mishra, and Tanishk Bagchi for Saiyaara, which also secured Best Background Score for John Stewart Eduri.

Technical excellence was highlighted with awards for cinematography (Swapnil S. Sonawane – Superboys of Malegaon), editing (Shivkumar V. Panicker – Dhurandhar), and visual effects (Rojo Studio – 120 Bahadur). Chhaava also earned accolades for costume design (Sheetal Sharma) and action choreography by Parvez Shaikh and Todor Lazarov.

The Best OTT Film award went to The Mehta Boys, while Mahavatar Narsimha was honoured as Best Animation Film. Both films, along with Haq, were also recognised under the Best Producer category.

Vision Behind the Awards

Founder Director Hanu Roj stated that ICA 2025 aims to celebrate films that not only entertain but also inspire society and evoke meaningful thought and emotion. He emphasised that the winners represent the promising future of Indian cinema.

Spokesperson Nitin Sharma highlighted that the awards reflect transparency, quality, and dedication to the craft, reinforcing India’s growing global cinematic identity.
