Mumbai: Yaadein, the new show on Sony SAB, is winning hearts through the emotional journey of Dr. Dev Mehta, played by Iqbal Khan. The story beautifully blends themes of regret, courage, and self-discovery. It follows the life of Dr. Dev, once a renowned doctor, who is now struggling to rebuild his identity after losing eight years of his memory.
As he confronts the harsh truths of his past, including broken relationships, the loss of his son, and even parts of himself he no longer recognizes, Dr. Dev is determined to piece his life back together.
In the upcoming episodes, Dr. Dev faces one of the toughest phases of his life when the hospital board asks him to give up his right to practice. Due to his memory loss and outdated medical knowledge, he is declared unfit to continue as a doctor. Despite his efforts to prove his capability, the decision shatters him, forcing him to accept the painful reality that he can no longer be part of the profession that once defined him.
However, just as he prepares to leave the hospital forever, an unexpected turn changes everything. His former wife and the hospital administrator, Srishti Agrawal, played by Gulki Joshi, makes a surprising decision. Dr. Dev is allowed to stay in the hospital—but only as an assistant to interns, without any authority to treat or diagnose patients.
Speaking about this new phase in his character’s journey, Iqbal Khan shared that this is a major turning point for Dr. Dev. For the first time, he is forced to separate his identity from his profession. Losing the title of a doctor deeply breaks him, yet his decision to stay in the hospital reflects how healing and medicine are an inseparable part of his being.
He added that the beauty of this track lies in how Dr. Dev rebuilds himself—not through power or authority, but through humility, patience, and compassion. According to him, audiences will strongly connect with this phase, as it highlights how life sometimes offers second chances in unexpected ways.
Don’t miss Yaadein, airing Monday to Saturday at 8 PM, only on Sony SAB.
