Udaipur: The 135th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution and Bharat Ratna awardee, was celebrated with great enthusiasm on Tuesday. As per the directions of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, various programs were organized across the state, from the panchayat level to the state level.
In Udaipur, under the aegis of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, a Prabhat Pheri (morning procession) and floral tribute program were held on Tuesday morning. Girls from departmental hostels took out the procession, which passed through major routes and concluded at Court Chauraha. A floral tribute ceremony was held there in the presence of District Collector Gaurav Agrawal.
Along with the District Collector, Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena, ADM (Administration) Deependra Singh Rathore, Zila Parishad CEO Virmaram, Joint Director Girish Bhatnagar, and other officials, staff members, school students, and hostel girls paid floral tributes to Dr. Ambedkar’s statue. On this occasion, the Preamble of the Constitution was read and collectively recited.
Hostel Inauguration during State-Level Event
On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, a district-level program was held at 11 AM in the VC hall of the Information and Technology Department at the Collectorate premises. Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani and District Collector Gaurav Agrawal also participated in the event.
During the program, a live telecast of the state-level function held in Jaipur under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma was screened. On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated 10 newly constructed hostel buildings across the state and virtually laid the foundation stones for 17 more hostels. Among these, a college-level hostel for economically backward class girls in Udaipur, built at a cost of ₹2.80 crore, was also inaugurated.
The district-level event was attended by ADM City Jitendra Ojha, nodal officer and Zila Parishad CEO Virmaram, Joint Director Girish Bhatnagar, along with several officials, beneficiaries, and members of the public.
Essay, Poster, and Speech Competitions Organized
As per the state government’s directions, a four-day series of events was conducted across the district on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. Schools, colleges, residential institutions, and hostels organized essay writing, poster-making, and speech competitions, in which students participated enthusiastically.
