Jaipur/Jodhpur: Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani visited the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur, where he emphasized that an inclusive and innovation-driven approach is essential for nation building.
During his address, Devnani said that Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule were true pioneers of social reform who laid a strong foundation for equality and justice through education. He stressed that in the present era, technology and innovation must reach the last person in society to ensure inclusive development and achieve the vision of a self-reliant India.
He urged students to play a leading role in building a developed, inclusive, and globally respected India by 2047. He highlighted the importance of disciplined dialogue, innovation-driven governance, and youth empowerment.
On the occasion of the birth anniversaries of Dr. Ambedkar and Mahatma Phule, IIT Jodhpur hosted a special programme that provided a meaningful platform for dialogue between policymakers and academicians. The event reinforced a shared vision of inclusive development through education, innovation, and social transformation.
IIT Jodhpur Director Avinash Kumar Agarwal welcomed the Speaker. Faculty members including Prof. S.R. Vadera and Prof. S.P. Tiwari, along with students and staff, were present, reflecting the academic vibrancy of the institute.
Devnani reviewed multidisciplinary research activities at the Central Research Facility and appreciated the institute’s excellence in innovation. He also inspected the sports complex and praised the facilities available for holistic student development.
He visited the Jodhpur City Knowledge and Innovation Foundation and learned about industry–academia collaboration. He described the institute’s underground tunnel infrastructure as an excellent example of smart and sustainable campus development. District Collector Alok Ranjan was also present during the visit.
Later, he held discussions with heads of departments, reviewed the institute’s progress, and encouraged IIT Jodhpur to take a leading role in innovation, sustainable development, and technology-driven nation building.
Director Prof. Avinash Kumar Agarwal stated that the visit was highly inspiring. He added that the institute is actively working in areas such as artificial intelligence-based research, mother-tongue initiatives, establishment of new academic departments, and sustainable development.
The programme was successfully organized by the Committee for Celebration of Commemorative Days (CCCD) under the leadership of Dr. Akanksha Chaudhary. The institute continues to contribute significantly to building a developed India through its strong academic ecosystem, cutting-edge research, and commitment to social responsibility.
