Congress Opposition to Nari Shakti Vandan Act Called Unfortunate; Widespread Anger Among Women

New Delhi/Udaipur — Strong resentment was expressed by women across the country after opposition parties in Parliament voted against the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, a bill considered an important step toward women’s empowerment. Due to the opposition’s stand, the bill could not be implemented, leading to disappointment among women who had gathered in large numbers from across India.

Women who travelled from Udaipur to Delhi as part of the delegation strongly condemned the development, calling it insensitive to women’s rights and aspirations. Several political leaders also termed the incident unfortunate, stating that the decision reflects disregard for women’s empowerment. Among those who expressed their views were Rajya Sabha MP Chunilal Garasiya, MP Dr. Manna Lal Rawat, District President Gajpal Singh Rathore, former MP Arjun Lal Meena, MLA Phool Singh Meena, State Working Committee member Pramod Samar, General Secretary Paras Singhvi, Develi Lal Salvi, Pankaj Borana, former Chairman Yudhishthir Kumawat, former Mayor Chand Singh Kothari, Rajni Dangi, G.S. Tank, former District President Mangilal Joshi, and Dinesh Bhatt. They described the opposition as unfortunate and said that the public would respond strongly in the upcoming elections.

Media in-charge Dr. Seema Champawat stated that the delegation from Udaipur included herself, Pinki Mandawat, Dr. Sonika Jain, Ritu Agarwal, Sonal Meena, Rita Puri Goswami, Khushboo Rathore, and Lakshmi Ahari.

Rajya Sabha MP Chunilal Garasiya said that politics should not be played on issues related to women’s respect and rights. MP Dr. Manna Lal Rawat stated that the Nari Shakti Vandan Act was a historic initiative for empowering women, but opposition to it goes against women’s aspirations. District President Gajpal Singh Rathore added that the bill was a significant step toward ensuring women’s respect, rights, and participation in governance, and opposing it weakens efforts toward empowering half the population of the country.

Women who attended the program in Delhi also expressed their disappointment. Dr. Seema Champawat said that the sentiments of women from across the country have been hurt and the decision creates obstacles in the path of empowerment. Pinki Mandawat stated that the fight for women’s rights will continue with greater strength. Dr. Sonika Jain called the bill an important tool for increasing women’s political participation, and its obstruction unfortunate. Ritu Agarwal termed the move condemnable, while Sonal Meena said that women in India are now aware and will continue to fight for their rights. Rita Puri Goswami said that the opposition stands against women’s progress.

All participating women unanimously expressed their strong support for the Nari Shakti Vandan Act and strongly condemned the opposition’s stance.
