Cycle Rally and Plastic Awareness Campaign Marks Third Day of “Aviral” Initiative in Udaipur

Udaipur — As part of the ongoing Aviral Seven Days of Service initiative, the Rotary Club of Udaipur Mira, in collaboration with Pannadhay Club and Rotary Youth Club, organized a cycle rally, walkathon, and clean city drive at Fateh Sagar Pal and Rani Road (Cyclotron area).

Around 200 students from St. Xavier’s School and The Universal School participated enthusiastically in the event. The main objective of the campaign was to reduce the use of plastic and spread awareness about environmental conservation. During the rally, students carried the message “No Plastic, Yes to Sustainable Lifestyle.”

Club President Dr. Rekha Soni addressed the students and highlighted that over 460 million metric tonnes of plastic are produced globally every year, out of which less than 10% is recycled. She warned that if timely action is not taken, the problem could triple by 2060. She encouraged students to replace plastic bags, bottles, and tiffin boxes with steel and other eco-friendly alternatives.

Students were also informed that plastic is harmful to marine life and has now entered human food, water, and air in the form of microplastics, posing a serious threat to health.

Members of Rotary Pannadhay and Rotary Youth Club actively participated in the event, including Rotarians Tarika, Bhanu Pratap, Ratan, Pratap, Monika, Anmol, and Shefali. The rally also helped spread awareness among local residents in the Fateh Sagar area.

As part of the initiative, a woman sanitation worker has been appointed to ensure daily cleanliness by collecting waste regularly, helping maintain hygiene in the area. The program delivered a strong message on fitness, environmental awareness, and youth participation, contributing to a greener and cleaner future.
