SAPTA SHAKTI COMMAND AND BIRLA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE PILANI FORGE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT AND TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS

Jaipur:   In a significant move towards indigenous defence modernisation and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', the Sapta Shakti Command of the Indian Army and the Birla lnstitute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 20 April 2026, to collaborate in the field of Research & Development and Technological Innovations.

            The MoU was formally signed at Headquarters, Sapta Shakti Command Jaipur by Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, Army Commander, Sapta Shakti Command and Professor V Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani.  This partnership aims to promote academic excellence to meet the emerging military operational requirements and foster a culture of innovations to address modern battle field challenges.

            The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation and collaborations and will promote indigenous innovations in line with the Nation’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.  It aims to develop home grown solutions tailored to the unique topographical and operational challenges of Sapta Shakti Command.  The MoU will also provide access to academic programs, research facilities and workshops, ensuring that the human resource of Sapta Shakti Command is future ready.  The synergy between the operational experience of Sapta Shakti Command and the technical prowess of BITS Pilani will yield significant results to meet the technological challenges of the modern day battle field.

            Professor V Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani stated that BITS Pilani has always been at the forefront of engineering excellence.  This MoU is a testament to our commitment to Nation building.  By aligning the research capabilities with the operational requirements of Sapta Shakti Command, BITS Pilani aims to create indigenous solutions that fully meet the operational requirements of Sapta Shakti Command.

            Addressing the audience, the Army Commander underscored that modern security landscape demands technologically superior and indigenous solutions to win future wars.  He noted that the expertise available at BITS Pilani would be pivotal in tailoring academic research to meet the operational needs of Sapta Shakti Command and Indian Army duly contributing towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
