Udaipur, A sharp political narrative unfolded in Udaipur as Govind Singh Dotasra launched a multi-pronged attack on both the central and Rajasthan governments, questioning their intent, efficiency, and commitment to democratic processes.
Addressing a press conference near Debari, Dotasra turned the refinery fire incident into a broader critique of governance. He asserted that the refinery project was conceptualized during the Congress regime, but alleged delays under the BJP government prevented its timely completion. According to him, had operations begun earlier, the country could have mitigated challenges like the gas crisis that followed global tensions. He further remarked that such an incident under a “double-engine government” raises serious concerns about safety and administrative accountability, demanding a fair and transparent investigation.
On the issue of women’s reservation, Dotasra accused the central government of using the subject as a political tool rather than implementing it with sincerity. He emphasized that while Congress has consistently supported women’s reservation, its proper execution depends on census data and delimitation. He criticized the delay in conducting the 2026 census and the absence of a formal notification, suggesting that selective political interests were being prioritized over constitutional processes.
Expanding his critique, Dotasra raised concerns over alleged irregularities in voter lists, calling such actions a threat to democratic rights. He stressed that the right to vote is fundamental and any manipulation undermines the core of democracy.
Closer to home, he targeted the Rajasthan government over delayed Panchayati Raj elections, alleging that the administration was avoiding elections by not making the OBC commission report public. He argued that governance through administrators instead of elected representatives weakens grassroots democracy.
Accusing the state leadership of corruption, Dotasra claimed that even routine public work now requires monetary influence, reflecting a deeper systemic failure. Touching upon national politics, he expressed confidence that despite BJP’s aggressive campaigning, the All India Trinamool Congress would retain power in West Bengal.
The press conference, attended by several Congress leaders, underscored an intensifying political atmosphere, with Dotasra positioning his party as a defender of transparency, constitutional values, and public accountability.
