Kabuni Appoints Shane Watson as ‘Super Coach’, Aims to Transform Global Cricket Training

Mumbai, AI-driven sports technology platform Kabuni has onboarded former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson as its Super Coach, marking a significant step toward delivering world-class cricket coaching to players at every level.

This collaboration brings together Kabuni’s advanced technology and Watson’s deep cricketing expertise, enabling young players to benefit from both data-driven insights and real-world playing experience.

Kabuni’s platform is designed to reinvent traditional net practice by tracking player movements and ball trajectories in real time, converting them into simple, actionable feedback. Its unique “1% Improvement” approach focuses on correcting small errors instantly, leading to significant performance gains over time.

With integrated voice, video, and visual cues, the platform ensures that feedback is not just data-heavy but also easy to understand and apply—especially for young and developing players.

Speaking about the association, Shane Watson said, “What stands out about Kabuni is how it simplifies improvement. Cricket is a game of small margins, and understanding those 1% changes can make a big difference. Kabuni makes training accessible and effective for players at all levels, and I’m excited to be part of a platform that democratizes quality coaching.”

Kabuni’s Founder and CEO Nimesh Patel described the partnership as a milestone. He said, “Having Shane Watson join Kabuni as Super Coach is a major achievement for us. By combining his experience with our technology, we aim to deliver a reliable and high-quality training platform. Our vision has always been to make professional coaching accessible to every player.”

He further emphasized that performance is not just physical but also mental. Kabuni is working on understanding how elite players like Watson think, prepare, and make decisions under pressure. The platform aims to deliver these insights to players worldwide.

Kabuni’s AI-based system uses biomechanics, movement analysis, and performance data to provide personalized, real-time coaching. It compares players’ movements with data from elite players and teams, helping them identify areas of improvement without overwhelming technical complexity.

In a pioneering move, Kabuni is also developing an AI-powered mental performance coach—a digital twin of Shane Watson. This feature will act like a personal mentor, guiding players in decision-making, focus, and mental strength during crucial moments.

Expanding its presence in India, Kabuni aims to bridge the gap between grassroots and professional cricket through this technology-driven coaching ecosystem in collaboration with Shane Watson.
