The primary objective of the meeting was to review and evaluate the research work carried out throughout the year and to formulate a research roadmap for the coming years. Renowned experts present at the meeting included Dr. Ravi Kumar Mathur, Director of the Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research, Hyderabad, and Dr. Dev Vrat Singh, Former Principal Scientist (Farm Machinery) at the Indian Institute of Soybean Research, Indore.

Addressing the scientists, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pratap Singh stated that despite having a limited number of scientists, the university has demonstrated excellence in agricultural research. He highlighted that the institution has developed several improved crop varieties and published quality research papers. Scientists of the university received eight individual awards and two project-level national awards during 2024 and 2025.

He encouraged scientists to align their research work with timelines and stakeholder needs so that producers, marketers, and consumers can benefit from the outcomes. He emphasized that research projects should also focus on generating revenue for the university and expressed confidence that new technologies and patents would enhance income sources. He further stressed that research programs should be aligned with national goals and should contribute directly or indirectly to strengthening the national economy, infrastructure, demand-supply balance, and the agricultural sector.

On this occasion, Dr. Ravi Kumar Mathur suggested that university scientists should collaborate with researchers from the Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research on biopolymer-related research. He emphasized integrated farming systems, impact analysis of advanced technologies, commercialization of patents, technology mapping, and research on protected agriculture.

Dr. Dev Vrat Singh highlighted that farmer-friendly agricultural machinery used in the university’s operational areas can be modified to improve efficiency. He also advised that agricultural education should not be viewed merely as a job, but as a passion.

At the beginning of the meeting, Director of Research Dr. Arvind Verma informed that the university is currently running 91 research projects, including 31 All India Coordinated Research Projects. He also presented a compliance report of decisions taken in the 21st Research Council meeting and a report on agricultural research conducted over the past two years.
