“We Must Move Forward with the Vision of Technology with Humanity” – Prof. Devnani

Udaipur: Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Prof. Vasudev Devnani emphasized that in ancient Indian thought, the purpose of technology was always human welfare rather than a display of power. Therefore, he said, we must move forward with the vision of “Technology with Humanity” to establish a sustainable development model. He was addressing the inaugural session of the 17th International Conference organized by the Department of Commerce and Management at Pacific University as the Chief Guest. The theme of the conference was “Redefining Business Paradigm through Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and AI for Sustainability and Inclusivity.”

In his address, Prof. Devnani highlighted the need for collective thinking on development, environmental, and social challenges, stating that this is crucial for sustainable and long-term progress. He noted that in ancient India, knowledge, science, and technology were always complementary to human consciousness, reflected in the enduring concept of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family). He stressed that business approaches should be rooted in this philosophy, working in harmony with nature and humanity.

He further stated that in today’s world, business is not just about earning profits but also about fulfilling social responsibilities. Referring to the conference theme, he said that the goals of Developed India 2047 can be achieved through environmental balance, social inclusion, and transparent governance. He called upon teachers, researchers, and innovators to work together in shaping the nation’s future. He urged that efforts should go beyond academic curricula, encouraging research and spreading awareness among the younger generation. He emphasized the need to redefine business standards and chart a new path forward.

Addressing the session, Pacific University Director Prof. B.P. Sharma noted that at one time India’s per capita income was higher than China’s, but the situation has reversed today. He stressed the need to optimally utilize available resources to achieve sustainable growth.

Special Guest and UCCI President Manish Galundia spoke about current business challenges. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Hemant Kothari highlighted the university’s activities, while Conference Chair Dr. Deepen Mathur elaborated on the conference theme and upcoming sessions. On this occasion, the guests also released the conference souvenir.

Modern Technology as a Reflection of Ancient Indian Intellect
Prof. Devnani remarked that there is a deep connection between human consciousness and technology. He stated that ancient Indian intellect was highly advanced, even developing methods of communication beyond spoken words. He added that modern AI technology can be seen as a contemporary expression of that ancient intellectual tradition.
