####Contractual Employees Seek Justice, Hope Rises After High-Level Intervention
UdaipurIn a significant development reflecting the growing concerns of long-serving contractual staff, representatives of the Contractual/SFS Employees Association of Mohanlal Sukhadia University approached Additional Chief Secretary, Higher and Technical Education, Kuldeep Ranka, seeking justice and long-awaited relief.
The meeting took place at the University Guest House, where Ranka was in discussion with university officials. Seizing the opportunity, the delegation submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting the plight of nearly 280 employees, many of whom have dedicated over a decade—some even two decades—of continuous service to the institution.
Led by Association President Narayan Lal Salvi, the employees raised pressing issues including delayed regularization under the Rajasthan Contract Hiring to Civil Posts Rules, 2022, unfulfilled assurances of salary revision, and increasing uncertainty over their future. Particularly concerning was the alleged move to replace existing staff with outsourced agency workers, a step that could displace experienced personnel at a critical stage in their careers.
The memorandum also pointed out administrative lapses, claiming that crucial information sought by the state government regarding contractual employees had not been forwarded by the university, further delaying resolution.
Adding to their distress, employees reported being granted only short-term extensions of two months since January 2026, creating a cycle of instability and mental stress while continuing to work on minimal wages.
Taking serious note of the concerns, Kuldeep Ranka acknowledged the legitimacy of the grievances and directed university authorities to address them promptly. In a decisive step, he summoned officials to Jaipur for further deliberations, signaling a proactive approach toward resolution.
The interaction has rekindled hope among employees, who now look forward to a fair and lasting solution after years of uncertainty—an outcome that could redefine the future of contractual workforce policies within the university system.
