Training of Sub-Divisional and Charge Census Officers Conducted

Udaipur: A one-day training program for all Sub-Divisional Census Officers, Charge Census Officers, Tehsildars, and Executive Officers of Municipalities in Udaipur district was held on Monday at the District Council auditorium under the upcoming Census 2027.

District Census Officer and Additional District Collector (Administration) Deependra Singh Rathore informed that under the first phase of Census 2027, the work of house listing and housing census will be carried out in a phased manner across the district from May 1 to June 14, 2026.

He explained that a self-enumeration (self-census) facility will be available to the public via a web portal from May 1 to May 15, 2026, allowing the head of the family to submit household details at their convenience. After this, fieldwork will be conducted by enumerators and supervisors from May 16 to June 14, 2026.

Officials were instructed to ensure that all tasks under the first phase are completed within the निर्धारित timeline. Rathore also highlighted that this will be a fully digital census, where for the first time data will be collected through a mobile application instead of paper forms.

All district and block-level officers have been directed to complete their own self-enumeration on May 1 and ensure the same for their subordinate staff. A detailed calendar for the self-enumeration program (May 1–15) will be issued, and special camps will be organized at block and Gram Panchayat levels to facilitate participation.

District Coordinator from the Census Directorate, Jaipur, Dr. Pulakesh Sharma, stated that during the first phase (house listing and housing census), a total of 34 questions will be asked to the head of the family and members. He also informed that the state government has issued a notification making it mandatory for citizens to cooperate fully with census activities and provide accurate information.

Census officials have been legally authorized to enter houses or premises for data collection. He further explained provisions of confidentiality, stating that census data is protected under the Census Act, 1948 (Section 15) and exempt from disclosure under the Right to Information Act, 2005 (Section 8(1)(j)).

In the upcoming schedule, training for a total of 4,394 enumerators and supervisors at the charge level will be conducted from April 30 to May 13, 2026.

The training session was attended by Girwa SDM Avula Sai Krishna, Deputy District Census Officer and Joint Director (Economics and Statistics) Puneet Sharma, Assistant Director Rajendra Khatik, and district-level master trainers Banwari Lal Bumbaria and Jayesh Ojha.
