Kota: Following directions from the Supreme Court to implement 30% reservation for women in local bar associations, the Kota Bar Association has taken a significant step.
As per the Supreme Court’s guidelines, local bar associations where women’s representation is below the mandated 30% are required to meet the quota through co-option. In this regard, the Kota Bar Association convened an executive meeting and, ensuring adequate representation, appointed advocates Swati Jain and Lovely Singh as co-opted members of the council.
Bar Association President Bharat Singh Adasela stated that the inclusion of Swati Jain and Lovely Singh will bring new energy and strength to the council, and they are expected to play an effective role in safeguarding the interests of advocates.
General Secretary Shambhu Soni said that this decision is not only in compliance with the Supreme Court’s directives but also a significant and positive step toward enhancing women’s participation and empowerment in the legal field. The move has been widely welcomed by members of the bar and is being seen as a progressive step toward promoting gender equality in the judicial system.
On this occasion, office bearers and members of the council welcomed the newly appointed members with garlands and extended their best wishes for a successful tenure. Those present at the meeting included General Secretary Shambhu Soni, Vice President Kailash Bamaniya, Treasurer Rishi Raj Nagar, Library Secretary Phool Singh Bhati, Cultural Secretary Pratibha Soni, and executive members Yash Nagar, Sapna Tiwari, Harshit Gautam, Kartik Gautam, Vaibhav Sharma, Hemant Malav, and Ajay Sharma.
