Jaipur: Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Vasudev Devnani said that Devarshi Narad is regarded as the first ideal journalist in Indian tradition, symbolizing the highest values of public welfare, truth, and meaningful communication. He called upon journalists to serve the nation with truth, courage, and sensitivity.
Dr. Devnani was addressing the gathering as the chief guest at the Devarshi Narad Jayanti and Journalists Felicitation Ceremony, organized by Vishva Samvad Kendra Jaipur at Pathay Bhawan on Saturday.
He emphasized that Narad is not just a personality but a principle. “Anyone who disseminates knowledge in society and gives meaningful direction to information is Narad in the truest sense,” he said. He added that Narad always upheld truth fearlessly, which remains a strong inspiration for modern journalism.
Highlighting the rapid flow of information in today’s era, Dr. Devnani remarked, “The need of the hour is not just to be the fastest, but to be the most truthful. A single piece of misinformation can break public trust, and trust is the greatest asset of democracy.” He urged the media to promote positive, solution-oriented, and nation-centric journalism.
He further stated that Narad’s communication was guided by the spirit of ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah’ (may all be happy), and modern journalism should follow the same path by staying connected to ground realities and delivering impactful reporting.
On the occasion, journalists Lakhbir Singh (electronic media), Ram Gopal Jat (digital media), and Madan Kalal (print media) were honored with the Narad Award.
The event was also addressed by Nimbaaram and senior journalist Girish Upadhyay. Media professionals, journalism students, and eminent citizens were present at the ceremony.
