The Pivotal Role of the Aware Consumer in National Development – Dr. Ashok Aditya

Udaipur : A one-day webinar on the subject of "Food Safety" was organized by the Consumer Protection Organization.

**Main Objective of the Webinar:**

The primary objective of the webinar was to raise consumer awareness regarding food safety, as well as to alert them to instances of adulteration and fraud occurring in the market.

Sharing insights on the subject, Dr. Ashok Aditya, Chief Medical and Health Officer of Udaipur, advised consumers not to purchase any food items without obtaining a bill and to strictly verify the expiration date. Dr. Aditya further stated that if there is any suspicion of adulteration in a food item, the matter must be reported to the department immediately.

**The Role of the Organization:**

Dr. Rajshree Gandhi (National President) emphasized that for the development of the nation, it is imperative for consumers to be aware; furthermore, in today's technological era, vigilance is the hallmark of wisdom.

**Consumer Awareness is Essential:**

The keynote speaker, Ashok Kumar Gupta, Food Safety Officer, stated that it is essential for consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing food items from the market. They should pay special attention to details such as the food category, brand, the list of ingredients (listed in descending order) on the packet, as well as the weight and volume of the product. Additionally, customers should verify the product's batch number, lot number, complete manufacturer details, INS number, and the FSSAI mark. Consumers should refrain from purchasing any product where this information is incomplete.

**Complaints and Vigilance:**

Mr. Gupta informed that in the event of a suspicion of adulteration, consumers can immediately register their complaint with the concerned department via the helpline number: 6367304312.

During the open discussion session held during the webinar, approximately 30 participants from various districts raised questions regarding food safety awareness, to which the officials provided appropriate suggestions and guidance. Chairman Chirag Chopra (Noida), National Coordinator Shirish Nath Mathur, Advisory Board Member Vivek Dulawat, Medical Officer Dr. Krishna Badoliya, Manju Singh (Lucknow), Youth President Gajendra Singh (Jaisalmer), Youth President Parth Verma, District Coordinator Suresh Paliwal, and other executive members were present at the webinar. State President Hemant Jha expressed his gratitude and thanks to everyone, while the proceedings were moderated by District President Praveen Nahar.
