Union Minister Kiren Rijiju Visits Lens & Legacy at NGMA Mumbai

Mr. Kiren Rijiju - the Hon'ble Minister of Parliamentary Affairs & Minister of Minister of Minority Affairs visited the ongoing 'Lens & Legacy: Bollywood in Focus' exhibition at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) Mumbai. The Minister walked through the exhibition alongside IAS Nidhi Choudhari - Director of NGMA Mumbai; noted photographers Pradeep Chandra, Shantanu Das and Sudharak Olwe; author-film historian SMM Ausaja; Neha Kamat of Kamat Foto Flash; and Shruti Das - Deputy Curator of NGMA Mumbai, appreciating the exhibition’s extensive visual documentation of Indian cinema and its rich archival legacy.

"I’m visiting NGMA Mumbai for the first time. I don’t call it Bollywood since it’s a Western term; we call it the Indian film industry... the film industry that has existed in Mumbai for so many decades... its entire journey has been presented beautifully at this exhibition. I’m impressed by the way the paintings and old photographs have been maintained and curated. The way this journey has been presented is incredible. If anyone spends two hours here, he/she can understand the entire journey of the film industry - from the silent era to the present day. I like how the legendary stars whom we recently lost, such as Dharmendra and Asha Bhosle, have been paid beautiful tributes. I really liked the concept and the simplicity of it. You don’t need any explanation; if you just take a walk around the exhibition, you will understand it," shared Minister Kiren Rijiju.
