Accident Victims Should Receive Cashless Treatment Up to ₹1.5 Lakh for 7 Days Without Delay

Sri Ganganagar: A meeting of the District-Level Road Safety Committee was held on Tuesday at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Amit Yadav.

To improve road safety conditions in the district, he directed the National Highways (NH), Public Works Department (PWD), and Police Department to conduct a joint survey of accident-prone areas during both day and night and ensure necessary improvements such as installation of signboards, rumble strips, and reflectors. Officials were instructed to immediately install rumble strips, reflector thermoplastics, and warning boards on the NH-62 Mahiyanwali Road.

The District Collector also directed Municipal Council and local body officials to launch an immediate campaign to remove stray animals from highways and shift them to nearby cow shelters. In accordance with Supreme Court guidelines, instructions were issued to prepare a detailed report on any illegal commercial constructions located within 75 meters of the center point of national and state highways. The Public Works Department and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) were directed to conduct immediate surveys of highways under their respective jurisdictions.

He further instructed officials to identify trees obstructing smooth traffic movement or posing accident risks and coordinate with the Forest Department for their immediate removal as per rules, to prevent future accidents. During pruning of tree branches, officials were asked to ensure that traffic movement remains unaffected and all safety standards are followed at work sites. Compliance reports regarding this work are to be submitted within the next seven days.

The Police and Transport Departments were instructed to conduct special checking drives against helmetless driving, overspeeding, and drunk driving. Morning patrols and checking activities should also be intensified. The Urban Improvement Trust was directed to submit a report regarding land allocation and technical feasibility for integrating both the Roadways and private bus stands at a single location.

To ensure immediate medical assistance during the “golden hour” after road accidents, directions were issued to NHAI and the Medical Department. The District Collector emphasized that uploading accident-related data on the e-DAR portal immediately after accidents is mandatory. The Police Department was specifically instructed to ensure digital authentication within 24 to 48 hours of an accident. Departments with pending cases were directed to prioritize the matter and clear all pending cases immediately.

For providing prompt treatment to road accident victims, the District Collector directed effective implementation of the cashless treatment system. All listed government and private hospitals in the district must provide cashless treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh for seven days to accident victims without any delay. In case of accidents, immediate assistance can be obtained through the “112” helpline.

The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Harishankar, Additional District Collector (Vigilance) Mrs. Reena, Hari Ram, Roshan Lal, Piyush Yudhuvanshi, Devanand, Dr. Ajay Singla, Dinesh Kumar, Mangat Setia, Surendra Poonia, Harvinder Singh, and other officials.
