Workshop Organized on the Role of AI and Technology in the Holistic Development of Tribal Communities

Udaipur: A one-day workshop on the usefulness of Artificial Intelligence and technology for the holistic development of tribal communities was organized on Friday at the Manikya Lal Verma Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRI). Commissioner of the Tribal Area Development Department (TAD) Laxmi Narayan Mantri attended as the chief guest, while the workshop was chaired by TRI Director O. P. Jain.

Addressing the workshop, Commissioner Laxmi Narayan Mantri emphasized the positive use of Artificial Intelligence and modern technology in the development of tribal communities. He said that technology can make efforts to connect tribal communities with the mainstream of society more effective and impactful.

TRI Director O. P. Jain informed that during the workshop, Bhaskar D. Garg and Siddharth Pandey from Oblic AI explained the practical applications of AI technology through live demonstrations and examples. AI Architect Abhinav Jain highlighted the usefulness of Artificial Intelligence in office and administrative work. Cybersecurity expert Shyam Chandel provided practical information regarding cybercrimes and methods of prevention. Additional Director (IT) Giriraj Kataria also shared important insights during the workshop.

The workshop was organized as part of the “Janjati Garima Utsav” being conducted by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs from May 10 to June 9, 2026. Under the festival, several activities and awareness programs related to schemes and welfare initiatives for tribal communities will be organized.

Officials informed that the Tribal Area Development Department will organize beneficiary saturation camps in selected villages from May 18 to May 25, 2026, under the “Dharti Aaba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan” with the theme “Jan Bhagidari – Sabse Door, Sabse Pehle” (Public Participation – Farthest First). Through Adi Seva Kendras, benefits of various state government schemes will be delivered directly to tribal communities.

Additionally, TRI has invited nominations for emerging and lesser-known tribal heroes who have made notable contributions in social service, education, community leadership, traditional knowledge, innovation, and infrastructure development. Selected individuals will be honored during the “Janjati Gaurav Samman” program scheduled from May 25 to May 31, 2026.

The workshop proceedings were conducted by Harshvardhan Singh Solanki, while Director of Statistics Sudhir Dave delivered the vote of thanks.
