Udaipur: An online lecture series on the theme “Conservation of Natural Resources and Sustainable Development” was organized by Janmat Manch. On this occasion, the founder president of the forum, Dr. Srinivas, addressed the webinar as the keynote speaker and emphasized that environmental protection has become one of the most essential and urgent needs of the present time.
He stated that the excessive exploitation of natural resources and increasing pollution have become serious threats to human existence. Protecting the environment is extremely important to maintain ecological balance and ensure a healthy future.
Dr. Srinivas highlighted that it is necessary to educate the younger generation about the conservation of natural resources, sustainable development, global warming, and biodiversity in the present scenario. He said that humans and nature have shared an inseparable bond since ancient times, but the blind race for development in the modern era has severely disturbed this balance. Deforestation, uncontrolled industrialization, and excessive use of plastic have pushed the Earth into crisis.
He explained that environmental conservation does not only mean planting trees, but also protecting available natural resources and preventing pollution. Clean air and pure water are essential for a healthy life, while a polluted environment leads to serious diseases.
Speaking about biodiversity, he stressed that the conservation of forests and wildlife is crucial for maintaining ecological balance. He further stated that preserving natural resources today is necessary for future generations and that environmental imbalance is the primary cause of global warming and irregular climate changes.
Dr. Srinivas also shared several practical measures for environmental protection, encouraging people to take small steps in daily life that can bring significant change. These include planting more trees, preventing water wastage, avoiding single-use plastics, increasing the use of public transport, conserving energy, and ensuring proper waste disposal. He said environmental protection is not the responsibility of one individual or the government alone, but a collective responsibility of society.
Forum secretary Shirish Nath Mathur said that youth must come forward and take a pledge to protect the environment. He added that nature is the foundation of human life, and failure to protect it will lead to severe consequences in the future. He advocated promoting tree plantation, reducing pollution, and using alternative resources such as solar energy and electric vehicles.
He also emphasized the importance of water conservation, suggesting the adoption of rainwater harvesting techniques and prevention of water misuse. He urged people to reduce plastic usage, properly dispose of plastic waste, promote recycling, conserve energy, and implement strict regulations to control industrial pollution.
Assistant secretary Dr. Priyadarshi Ojha stated that while animals and birds have remained unchanged, human behavior has transformed over time, and therefore people need to change themselves for environmental protection. He stressed the importance of public awareness campaigns to educate society about the significance of environmental conservation and inspire collective action.
Dr. Kunal Ameta said that strict punishment should be imposed on those who cut or damage trees. Vishal Mathur emphasized the urgent need to protect natural resources, while Rishu Ojha presented a poem dedicated to environmental conservation during the webinar.
