Fisheries Will Boost the Blue Economy; Work in Coordination – Director

Udaipur: IAS officer Sanchita Bishnoi, Director of the Fisheries Department Rajasthan, was on a two-day official visit to Udaipur.

During her visit, she inspected the cage culture fish farming unit established at Bandh Badi under the Prime Minister Matsya Sampada Yojana. Officials informed her that 18 cages along with a cage house have been installed at the site. Beneficiary Tara Devi Purbia, a resident of Hathipol, has already received the first installment of the approved 60 percent subsidy directly into her bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The second installment will be released after the beneficiary starts cage operations and completes the first production cycle.

The unit cost for establishing the cage culture setup has been fixed at ₹54 lakh. Beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and women categories are eligible for a 60 percent subsidy, while general category beneficiaries receive 40 percent assistance. So far, two cage culture units have been approved at Bandh Badi.

Director Sanchita Bishnoi also chaired a review meeting of district-level officers from the Udaipur division at the Fisheries Building located on Rani Road. Discussions were held regarding fisheries lease procedures for various categories of reservoirs transferred to the department from Panchayati Raj institutions.

Joint Director Dr. Anil Joshi informed that fisheries leases for Category ‘B’ reservoirs have already been completed through the e-auction portal at the Directorate level, while leases for Category ‘C’ and ‘D’ reservoirs are being carried out offline at the district level as per rules.

The Director stressed the need for wide publicity of district-level fisheries leases and directed officials to ensure that the leasing process is conducted systematically and transparently. She also instructed officials to achieve 100 percent of the targets set for fish production, fish seed production, and formation of cooperative societies for the year 2026–27.

She also inspected the 43 KW solar energy unit installed by the Renewable Energy Corporation in the Fisheries Building premises, along with ongoing building repair works.

Newly appointed officers of the department were instructed to work with full dedication and coordination.

Deputy Director Fisheries Amit Purohit, Dr. Deepika Paliwal, and officers from other districts of the division were also present during the visit.
