Banswara: The “One Family One Tree” campaign, being run by the Natwaranandi Welfare Foundation to promote environmental conservation as a people’s movement, witnessed enthusiastic participation on Tuesday during a plantation drive organized at the Shri Pitambara Ashram premises. A large number of nature lovers planted saplings and pledged to ensure their proper growth, protection, and maintenance.
Shade-giving, fruit-bearing, and medicinal plants were planted in the ashram grounds, including Peepal, Neem, Banyan, Ashok, Karanj, and Tulsi. These species were selected not only to increase greenery but also to promote environmental balance, biodiversity, and human health in the future.
The special campaign, organized during the Adhik Maas period, was inaugurated with plantation by Chief District Education Officer Pawan Kumar Rawal and former Commissioner Dilip Gupta. Thereafter, a large number of nature enthusiasts, including Mahendra Trivedi, Yogesh Swarnkar, Vaishali Patel, Naveen Chandra Pandya, J.P. Nagar and their family members, planted trees of religious significance.
Campaign coordinator Saurabh Rawal briefed participants about the objectives and implementation plan of the initiative. On the occasion, Manohar Joshi, Rajesh Chaibisa, Prerna Upadhyay, and Nikunj Soni also contributed to the plantation drive.
A special feature of the programme was that participants did not merely plant saplings as a formality; they also committed to ensuring their protection by installing 10–12 feet high tree guards and arranging regular watering and maintenance. Several families planted trees in memory of their loved ones and described them as a green legacy for future generations.
On the occasion, people were appealed to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, memorials, and other special occasions by planting trees instead of spending unnecessarily on celebrations. It was emphasized that a small sapling can one day grow into a tree that provides shade, oxygen, and life to thousands of people.
Goal of the Campaign
The “One Family One Tree” campaign is gradually emerging as a social awareness movement. In its first phase, 101 families will plant saplings of different species during this month. All those present collectively pledged to plant more trees and ensure their protection and survival.
