Announcement of Four Major Year-Long Events After Release of Logo for 75th Amrit Year of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly

The Speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, Vasudev Devnani, known for his continuous innovations, made several important announcements over two consecutive days regarding the 75th Amrit Year of the Assembly.

On Monday, in the presence of Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde, state ministers, the Leader of Opposition, and other legislators, Speaker Vasudev Devnani unveiled the official logo (symbol) of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. This marks the first time in the 75-year history of the Assembly that an official emblem has been introduced.

The logo incorporates the Ashoka Pillar symbolizing justice and inclusiveness, the Khejri tree (state tree), the camel (state animal), and the Great Indian Bustard (state bird), reflecting Rajasthan’s identity and public sentiment. Along with this, the Governor and Speaker also inaugurated the naming of 13 gates of the Assembly building, marking the beginning of the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.

It is noteworthy that while most state legislatures in India use their state emblem, only a few have developed their own distinct legislative logos. Rajasthan now stands among the few states to have a dedicated Assembly logo.

The newly designed emblem represents the Assembly building as the center of citizens’ aspirations. The Ashoka Pillar at the top symbolizes Indian constitutional values of truth, justice, and duty. The Great Indian Bustard represents Rajasthan’s cultural and natural heritage, while the Khejri tree symbolizes sacrifice, resilience, and public welfare traditions. The camel and bustard together represent endurance and strength of the desert region. The motto inscribed in the logo, “Rashtraya Dharmnishtha Vidhanika,” reflects the spirit of public service and constitutional dignity.

Speaker Vasudev Devnani also described the naming of the Assembly gates as a historic and value-based decision. He said the gates symbolize democratic ideals and will give visitors the feeling that they are entering a sacred center of democratic values.

The northern gate (brass), used by the Governor, Chief Minister, Speaker, and Leader of Opposition, has been named “Kartavya Dwar” (Duty Gate). The southern gate, representing the entry of the public—the true strength of the legislature—is named “Shakti Dwar” (Power Gate). The western gate for legislators is named “Sushasan Dwar” (Good Governance Gate), while the eastern gate for officials is named “Sankalp Dwar” (Resolve Gate). The northern temple gate for dignitaries is named “Shaurya Dwar” (Valour Gate).

The outer gates of the Assembly have also been named after Rajasthan’s cultural regions such as Braj, Shekhawati, Vagad, Hadoti, Marwar, Mewar, Merwara, and Dhundhar, highlighting the state’s rich cultural diversity and heritage. Each region represents distinct traditions, including devotion, art, tribal culture, literature, bravery, and political energy, collectively forming the cultural soul of Rajasthan.

In a meeting of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Rajasthan Branch held at the Assembly office, Speaker Vasudev Devnani also announced that four major events will be organized throughout the year to mark the 75th anniversary of the Assembly.

These events are scheduled for July and October this year, and January and March 2027. The programmes will include participation from dignitaries such as the President of India Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, along with other national leaders.

The events will also include conferences of women legislators, special sessions with parliamentary and constitutional experts, student youth parliaments, and a grand gathering of former and current members of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from its first to sixteenth terms.

The Speaker also indicated that several additional innovations may be introduced during the Amrit Year, including a virtual tour of the entire state through the Assembly museum in Jaipur.
