Udaipur, . Former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna late Rajiv Gandhi was remembered on his death anniversary during a tribute meeting organized at the Rural District Congress office located at Surajpole on बुधवार. Floral tributes were offered to his portrait and a thought-sharing session was also held.
Rural District Congress Media In-charge Dinesh Audichya stated that the program began with garlanding the portrait of late Rajiv Gandhi and paying homage to him. During the discussion session, Congress leaders highlighted his contribution towards nation building, youth empowerment and technological advancement.
Former Up zila prasmukh Chief Laxmi Narayan Pandya said that Rajiv Gandhi was the visionary of young India and his contribution towards the development of the nation remains unforgettable. He said Rajiv Gandhi took historic decisions for the youth, including reducing the voting age from 21 years to 18 years, which strengthened the participation of young citizens in democracy.
Pandya further said that Rajiv Gandhi played a major role in strengthening the Panchayati Raj system and empowering village assemblies with financial rights, which accelerated rural development. He added that the vision of providing permanent housing, electricity to every household and food security for the poor originated from Rajiv Gandhi’s far-sighted thinking and today these ideas are reflected in various welfare schemes across the country.
Senior Congress leader Dr. Kalyan Singh Rao said that when Rajiv Gandhi spoke about the information and communication revolution, many people opposed him, but today the entire world remembers him as the pioneer of India’s communication and technology revolution. He said Rajiv Gandhi’s policies laid the foundation for the country’s advancement in information technology, communication and modern infrastructure.
Among those present during the program were Dr. Kaushal Nagda, Jamna Lal Sharma, Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit, Modi Ram Prajapat, Om Prakash Gameti, Ratan Lal Purbia, Aziz Khan Pathan, Rajesh Menaria, Praveen Salvi, Roshan Gaur, Shankar Lal Meena, Jaggu Ram Meena, Laxmi Lal Soni, Istiyaq Chanchal, Gopal Sarpata, Narendra Singh Guhil, Suresh Tarathi and Hemant Meghwal.
The program was conducted by Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Kaushal Nagda. After the meeting, Praveen Salvi was also felicitated on being appointed Acting President of the Scheduled Caste Department of Udaipur Rural District Congress.
