Udaipur: On the death anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Late Rajiv Gandhi, members of the Rural District Congress paid floral tributes to his portrait and organized a seminar at the Rural District Congress office located at Surajpole.
Rural District Congress Media In-charge Dinesh Audichya informed that floral tributes were offered to Late Rajiv Gandhi, followed by a thought seminar held in his memory.
Before the seminar, party leaders garlanded the portrait of the late Prime Minister and paid their respects. Addressing the gathering, former Deputy District Chief Laxmi Narayan Pandya said that Rajiv Gandhi, the visionary of a young India, made an unforgettable contribution to nation-building.
He stated that Rajiv Gandhi took several landmark decisions for the youth, including the revolutionary step of reducing the voting age from 21 years to 18 years. According to Pandya, today’s young India is a reflection of Rajiv Gandhi’s vision and his commitment to empowering youth. He added that Rajiv Gandhi was the first leader to place trust in the younger generation and understood that India could not progress without the development of villages.
Pandya further said that Rajiv Gandhi strengthened the Panchayati Raj system and empowered Gram Sabhas with financial authority, enabling village sarpanches to directly undertake development works. As a result, India today stands among the leading nations of the world.
He also remarked that Rajiv Gandhi had a broad and farsighted vision. Witnessing the hardships faced by rural and poor families, he initiated concepts such as permanent housing for the poor, electricity for every household, and food security schemes. Pandya said that the successful implementation of present-day housing, electricity, and food schemes reflects Rajiv Gandhi’s visionary thinking.
Senior Rural District Congress leader Dr. Kalyan Singh Rao said that when Rajiv Gandhi spoke about bringing an information and communication revolution in India, BJP leaders opposed him at the time. However, today the entire world recognizes Rajiv Gandhi as the pioneer of the communication revolution in India.
He added that the advancements in information technology, communication, and digital infrastructure seen in the country today were the result of Rajiv Gandhi’s vision and policies during his tenure as Prime Minister, which helped India emerge as one of the leading nations in the field of communication and technology.
Among those present at the seminar were former Deputy District Chief Laxmi Narayan Pandya, Dr. Kalyan Singh Rao, Dr. Kaushal Nagda, Jamna Lal Sharma, Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit, Modi Ram Prajapat, Om Prakash Gameti, Ratan Lal Purbia, Aziz Khan Pathan, Rajesh Menaria, Praveen Salvi, Roshan Gaur, Shankar Lal Meena, Jaggu Ram Meena, Laxmi Lal Soni, Istiyaq Chanchal, Gopal Sarpata, Narendra Singh Guhil, Suresh Tarathi, Hemant Meghwal and others.
The seminar was conducted by Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Kaushal Nagda. After the seminar, Praveen Salvi was also felicitated on being appointed Acting President of the Udaipur Rural District Congress Scheduled Caste Department.
