####Outcome-Based Education Essential for Building a Capable Nation: Prof. Kailash Daga

Udaipur: A two-day national workshop on “Designing and Implementing Outcome-Based Education: A Pathway to Transforming Teaching and Learning” commenced on Friday at the Conference Hall of the Golden Jubilee Guest House of Mohanlal Sukhadia University. Organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the workshop has been planned in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020 to strengthen quality-oriented, innovative, and student-centric higher education practices.

Presiding over the inaugural session, Vice Chancellor Prof. Kailash Daga stated that the nature of education is rapidly evolving and theoretical knowledge alone is no longer sufficient in today’s competitive world. He emphasized that universities must go beyond merely awarding degrees and should focus on developing students equipped with knowledge, skills, ethical values, innovation, and social responsibility.

Prof. Daga said that Outcome-Based Education (OBE) is a system designed to enhance the real capabilities of students by ensuring what they are able to learn, understand, and contribute to society and industry after completing their courses. He added that the core objective of the National Education Policy 2020 is to make education skill-oriented, research-driven, and employment-focused.

Encouraging faculty members to move beyond conventional lecture-based teaching methods, Prof. Daga urged them to adopt interactive, innovative, and learner-centered pedagogical practices. He remarked that teachers are not merely providers of information but mentors and motivators who shape the future of students. According to him, adopting a result-oriented educational approach naturally develops analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, leadership qualities, and social sensitivity among learners.

He further highlighted that the university is continuously working toward academic excellence, research enhancement, and institutional quality improvement. Expressing confidence in the workshop, he said it would play a significant role in helping teachers understand and effectively implement the principles of Outcome-Based Education.

Welcoming the participants, IQAC Director and Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Prof. Shurveer Singh Bhanawat, said that for the first time the university is organizing such a comprehensive and practical workshop on Outcome-Based Education. He noted that the initiative would help teachers align curriculum design, teaching methodologies, and evaluation systems with global academic standards.

The keynote speaker, Prof. (Dr.) Krishnakant Dave, delivered an extensive session on Outcome-Based Education, Course Outcomes (COs), Program Outcomes (POs), Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs), and Bloom’s Taxonomy. He stressed that quality education can only be achieved when teaching, learning, and assessment processes are outcome-oriented.

The workshop witnessed the participation of deans, faculty members, IQAC committee members, and teachers from various departments of the university, along with participants from Geetanjali University. The programme was conducted by Assistant Professor Dr. Neha Paliwal, while the vote of thanks was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Harish.
