Udaipur: Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital organised a special lecture on water conservation and environmental awareness under the ‘Mission LiFE’ initiative as part of the World Environment Day Pre-Campaign 2026. The programme was conducted by the Department of Community Medicine under the guidance of Head of Department Dr. Mukul Dixit and coordinated by Nodal Officer Dr. Hemlata Mittal.

Renowned water expert Dr. P. C. Jain, the keynote speaker of the programme, expressed concern over the rapidly declining groundwater level, increasing water pollution, and the growing threat of water scarcity. He highlighted rainwater conservation and rooftop rainwater harvesting as urgent necessities of the present time, stating that immediate action is essential to safeguard future generations from a severe water crisis.
Dr. Jain also spoke about the increasing risk of water-related diseases such as fluorosis and arsenicosis and encouraged students to become more aware and responsible towards water conservation. Delivering the message, “Use less water, save more for tomorrow,” he appealed to everyone to adopt small yet effective habits for saving water in daily life.
The programme also included interactive sessions, quizzes, and practical suggestions related to water conservation, generating enthusiasm among students towards environmental protection and sustainable living.
Faculty members including Dr. Anjana Verma, Dr. Medha Mathur, Dr. Jyoti Jain, Dr. Bhagraj Chaudhary, Dr. D. R. Beniwal, Dr. Amit Kumar, Dr. Suresh Chaudhary, Dr. Abhishek Kumar, Dr. Anshika Jain, Dr. Prakhar Sharma, Dr. Vichitra Vibhuti Bhushan, Dr. Dilshanon Thayyam, Dr. Mudit Jain, Dr. Prabhat Ranjan, Dr. Tanisha Kumawat, and Dr. Poornima Sharma, along with senior and junior faculty members of the department, were present during the event. The programme concluded with the presentation of a memento to the chief guest.
