State Government is Striving for Permanent Solutions by Linking Water Conservation with Social Responsibility and Public Awareness – Babulal Kharadi

Udaipur: Addressing a press conference held on Monday morning at the Collectorate auditorium on the occasion of the launch of the Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan 2026, Rajasthan’s Tribal Area Development Minister Babulal Kharadi said that the campaign is not merely a government program, but a broad initiative aimed at transforming water conservation into a people’s movement.

He stated that under the leadership of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the state government is working toward sustainable solutions by linking water conservation with social responsibility and public awareness.

Minister Kharadi informed that the campaign was launched on the auspicious occasion of Adhik Maas and Ganga Dussehra. The campaign will run across the state from May 25 to June 5, coinciding with World Environment Day, reaching down to the village level. Its primary objective is to promote water conservation, groundwater recharge, and environmental protection to ensure water security for future generations.

He emphasized that in a water-scarce state like Rajasthan, the government is working on a public participation-based model while recognizing the value of every drop of water. Active participation from public representatives, farmers, youth, women, NGOs, religious organizations, industries, and citizens is being ensured under the campaign.

Minister Kharadi stated that activities such as Prabhat Pheris, Kalash Yatras, water worship ceremonies, plantation drives, and public awareness programs are being organized across the district. In addition, cleanliness and rejuvenation work of rivers, ponds, dams, canals, stepwells, and traditional water sources is being carried out through voluntary labor initiatives.

He further said that the campaign would provide farmers and livestock rearers with valuable information on advanced agricultural techniques, micro-irrigation, crop diversification, water management, and natural farming. Farmer meetings, agricultural workshops, and public interaction programs are also being organized to promote models that enable higher production with less water usage.

Minister Kharadi informed that the state government has set a target of planting 50 crore saplings over the next five years. Preparations for the Hariyalo Rajasthan Campaign have also begun alongside the “Vande Ganga” campaign. During this monsoon season, around 5.7 million saplings will be planted in Udaipur district alone. He appealed to every family to plant at least one tree and take responsibility for its care.

He also announced that under this year’s campaign, individuals, institutions, and Gram Panchayats doing outstanding work in water and environmental conservation will be honoured with the Jal Gaurav Samman by the district administration.

Minister Kharadi shared that during the 2025 campaign, more than 22,000 programs and activities were organized with participation from approximately 1.977 million people. Voluntary labor activities were carried out at over 1,392 locations, while cleaning and rejuvenation work was undertaken at more than 5,928 water sources.

Concluding the press conference, Minister Kharadi appealed to media representatives to actively support the campaign, stating that through the media, the message of water conservation can reach every citizen and help transform the initiative into a true mass movement.
