Jaipur/Banswara: Vasudev Devnani said that the philosophy of Integral Humanism propounded by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya strengthens the spirit of Indian culture and Antyodaya. He remarked that the newly established study chair would serve as a powerful platform to connect the younger generation with national thought, Indian values, and the country’s rich cultural heritage.
The Speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly inaugurated the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Study Chair at Govind Guru Tribal University on Sunday and also released the brochure of the study chair. He was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour upon his arrival at the university.
Addressing the gathering, Devnani said the establishment of the study chair was not merely an academic initiative, but a meaningful step toward restoring India’s traditional knowledge systems and cultural values. He emphasized that students studying here would not only shape their own futures but also actively contribute to nation-building. “The purpose of human life is not limited to earning wealth; it should become a medium for public welfare. Education must create responsible citizens,” he stated.
“Only the One Who Understands the Tears of the Last Person Can Truly Understand India”
Devnani said that true understanding of India lies in understanding the pain and tears of the last person standing in society. He noted that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s philosophy of Antyodaya teaches precisely this humanitarian vision. According to him, Integral Humanism is not merely a theory but an Indian perspective on life itself.
He further observed that at a time when the world is struggling with mental stress and cultural crises, the relevance of Indian culture and the principles of Integral Humanism has become even more significant. Stressing the importance of balance, he said progress alone is not enough; cultural values must advance alongside development.
India Must Become the World’s Guiding Force
Devnani said making India a “Vishwaguru” means transforming the nation into a guiding force for the world. He urged students to become self-reliant while staying deeply connected to Indian culture. “Humanity cannot survive solely on technological advancement. Along with development, compassion, sensitivity, and human values are equally essential,” he added.
During the programme, Kailash Chandra Meena described the establishment of the study chair in the Vagad region as a moment of great pride and happiness. He said the nation today is progressing in unity by following the ideals of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, and development works across Vagad, Rajasthan, and the country are being carried out based on his values and vision.
Former Vice-Chancellor of GGTU and Advisor to the Governor on Higher Education, Kailash Sodani said that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya dedicated his entire life to making India a prosperous nation. He highlighted that the concept of “Antyodaya” originated from Upadhyaya’s ideology of uplifting the last person in society.
“He lit a lamp in his time that today shines like the sun,” Sodani remarked while introducing the audience to Upadhyaya’s life and philosophy of Integral Humanism.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Keshav Singh Thakur termed the establishment of the study chair a significant step toward value-based education. He said it would help students develop through an Indian perspective while promoting research, dialogue, ethics, and social responsibility. He added that the university is continuously empowering tribal youth through education, innovation, and research so they may emerge as sensitive and aware citizens.
Registrar Uday Singh, social worker Labhchand Patel, Rajesh Katara, along with several public representatives and officials, were also present on the occasion.
