Udaipur: A one-day workshop on the theme *“Cooperation in Cooperatives”*, one of the foundational pillars of the Government of India’s flagship initiative *“Prosperity through Cooperation”*, was organized at the auditorium of the head office of The Udaipur Central Co-operative Bank Ltd., Pratap Nagar.
The program was chaired by Additional Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Ms. Gunjan Chaube, while District Development Manager (DDM), NABARD, Mr. Neeraj Yadav, attended as the Chief Guest.
At the outset, Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Udaipur, Mr. Lokesh Joshi, highlighted the concept of *“Prosperity through Cooperation.”* He explained that the various schemes under this initiative not only help different types of cooperative societies become financially stronger but also reinforce the framework of social development. Referring to some major initiatives under the scheme, he appealed to participants to take advantage of these programs.
Senior Bank Manager Mr. Vaibhav Gaur briefed the participants about the background and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the *“Cooperation in Cooperatives”* initiative. He stated that the primary objective of the campaign is to appoint capable Primary Dairy Cooperative Societies as Bank Mitras and provide them with micro-ATMs, enabling them to extend cooperative banking services to the general public.
Chief Guest Mr. Neeraj Yadav highlighted NABARD’s contribution to the initiative. He informed that under its Financial Inclusion Scheme, NABARD is providing micro-ATMs to Central Cooperative Banks with a 90 percent subsidy so that more dairy societies and Gram Seva Cooperative Societies can benefit from the facility through cooperative banks.
Computer Programmer Mr. Hitesh Panchal informed that the bank has so far provided micro-ATMs to 179 cooperative societies, including 95 dairy societies. Taking advantage of NABARD’s scheme, the bank has also proposed the purchase of 100 additional micro-ATMs, which will soon be distributed among other dairy societies. Mr. Panchal explained the functioning of micro-ATMs in detail and also resolved participants’ queries related to their usage. He added that the bank had previously organized similar workshops to ensure the smooth use of micro-ATMs by dairy societies and would continue organizing such workshops in the future as needed.
Special invitee from Udaipur Dairy, Mrs. Veena Khandelwal, thanked NABARD and the bank for organizing the workshop. She assured that more dairy cooperative societies under her jurisdiction would open accounts in branches of the Central Cooperative Bank. She also said that secretaries of dairy societies would be encouraged to become Bank Mitras and make effective use of micro-ATMs.
In her presidential address, Additional Registrar Ms. Gunjan Chaube emphasized strengthening the concept of *“Prosperity through Cooperation”* through the *“Cooperation in Cooperatives”* initiative. She stated that the success of the campaign depends upon mutual cooperation among various cooperative societies and institutions. She encouraged all dairy cooperative society secretaries to actively participate in and support the initiative with full dedication.
During the program, selected Primary Dairy Cooperative Societies were provided with micro-ATMs, and individual farmers were also issued ATM cards.
At the conclusion of the event, Managing Director Mr. Ashutosh Bhatt delivered the vote of thanks. He appreciated the participation of all stakeholders in the *“Cooperation in Cooperatives”* initiative and expressed hope for continued cooperation in the future.
More than 70 secretaries of Primary Dairy Cooperative Societies from Udaipur, Salumber, and Rajsamand districts attended the workshop. Dr. Mehjabeen Bano, Executive Officer of the Bank; Mr. Vinod Kothari, Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Rajsamand; Mr. Kautilya Bhatt, Special Auditor, Cooperative Societies, Udaipur; and Mr. Prince Gehlot, Manager Administration, also actively participated in the program.
