Media Personnel Observe Water Conservation and Pasture Development Works

Udaipur: Under the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign 2026, being conducted under the inspiration of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, a team of media personnel on Wednesday visited various areas including Gram Panchayats Modi and Bamaniya in the Vallabhnagar Panchayat Samiti region to inspect development works related to water conservation and natural resource management.

During the visit, the media team gathered detailed information about the works carried out under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana and the Watershed Department and highly appreciated the government’s efforts towards water conservation.

Pasture Development in Modi Becomes Center of Attraction

The team inspected the pasture development works carried out in Gram Panchayat Modi. Departmental officials informed that under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana 2.0, pasture development work was undertaken over an area of 12 hectares at a cost of approximately ₹50 lakh.

The project included additional seeding, fencing, and plantation activities. Around 1,530 plants, including amla, jamun, mango, custard apple, mulberry, lemon, and other fruit-bearing trees, were planted in the area. In addition, infrastructure facilities such as a solar-powered water pump system, water tank, watchman hut, and irrigation arrangements were also developed.

Officials stated that the project is helping increase green cover in the region and improving fodder availability for livestock.

Inspection of Restoration Work of 400-Year-Old Stepwell

The media team also visited a historic stepwell in Bamaniya village, believed to be more than 400 years old. Officials provided information about the restoration and conservation work carried out under the first phase of the Jal Swavalamban Abhiyan.

They explained that the rejuvenation of the stepwell has not only promoted water conservation in the area but has also become an important initiative toward preserving traditional water sources.

Information Shared on Anicuts, CCT and Watershed Works

During the tour, the media personnel also inspected anicuts, MPTs, CCTs, and other water conservation structures constructed by the Watershed Department.

Assistant Engineer Bhupendra Lohar explained in detail the utility, technical aspects, and benefits of these structures for rural areas. He said that these works are helping in rainwater conservation, increasing groundwater levels, and preventing soil erosion.

Superintending Engineer Anil Kumar Sanadhya, Deputy Director of Public Relations Gaurikant Sharma, Assistant Public Relations Officer Jayesh Pandya, along with officials and staff from related departments, were also present during the visit.
