Udaipur: Revenue Minister and Udaipur District In-Charge Minister Hemant Meena attended the block-level program of the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Campaign as the chief guest on Thursday at Chakadiya Panchayat Headquarters in Girwa Block. On this occasion, he performed the traditional worship of the sacred waters of the historic Nandeshwar Talab, situated amidst scenic hills.
Rainwater from this talab flows into the historic Pichola Lake through the Nandeshwar Channel. Following the Jal Pujan ceremony, rural women took out a grand Kalash Yatra while singing auspicious folk songs. A large number of local villagers enthusiastically participated in the procession.
Vande Ganga Campaign is an Effort to Preserve Water for Future Generations
Addressing the gathering, District In-Charge Minister Hemant Meena said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign is being conducted across the state from May 25 to June 5. Under this campaign, work related to cleaning, conservation, and repair of traditional water structures is being carried out on a war footing.
He informed that the collective efforts made during last year’s campaign yielded highly positive results. Area MLA Phool Singh Meena, in his address, emphasized that every citizen must come forward to create awareness about water conservation and revive water sources in rural areas. He stressed that public awareness is extremely important for ensuring long-term solutions to water scarcity and preserving water resources for future generations.
Plantation Drive and Water Conservation Oath
To spread the message of environmental and water conservation, In-Charge Minister Hemant Meena, the local MLA, and other public representatives planted saplings at the program venue. The minister also honored aware and proactive villagers who had made remarkable contributions toward water conservation in rural areas by presenting them with saplings.
At the conclusion of the program, all those present collectively took an oath to save every drop of water and keep water sources clean.
