Watershed Development and Soil Conservation Department Organizes Water Seminar Under Vande Ganga Campaign

Udaipur: Under the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Campaign, the Watershed Development and Soil Conservation Department organized a water conservation seminar in Dhar Gram Panchayat. During the program, participants also reviewed various water conservation works carried out in the area.

Addressing the gathering, chief guest Phool Singh Meena, MLA from Udaipur Rural, emphasized the growing importance of water conservation. He noted that major cities such as Chennai and Bengaluru are already facing severe drinking water shortages, and warned that other regions could encounter similar challenges if timely action is not taken to conserve water.

He stated that water conservation should become an integral part of every individual's daily routine. The MLA appealed to citizens to use water responsibly by taking only as much drinking water as needed and minimizing wastage during bathing and household activities.

He also advised farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices, including:

Construction of field bunds (embankments)
Development of farm ponds
Drip irrigation systems
Sprinkler irrigation techniques
On the occasion, Meena directed officials to prepare an action plan for channeling water from the Ubeshwarji region to the Bada Talab (Large Lake). He also assured villagers that individual-benefit development works would be approved and implemented in accordance with local demands.

During the program, the Development Officer provided information about the objectives and activities of the Vande Ganga Campaign. Assistant Engineer Narendra Soni presented details of the works completed in the village area under the first and second phases of the Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan (Chief Minister’s Water Self-Reliance Campaign).

As part of the event, MLA Meena and local residents visited a water conservation pond constructed in Banadiya village using the dry stone masonry technique, and reviewed its effectiveness in water harvesting and conservation.

The program was attended by BJP Mandal President Mukesh Joshi, Dinesh Dhabai, Mahendra Singh Devda, Vardichand Dangi, Rajkumar Sharma, Vikram Singh Devda, Vakta Ram Gameti, Bhagwati Gameti, Shantilal Gameti, Pooja Boliwal, Kirtika Sharma, Valuram Meena, and a large number of villagers.
