Over 1,600 Students Benefiting from Hindustan Zinc’s Shiksha Sambal Summer Camps This Year

The smiles and confidence visible on the faces of children attending the summer camps under Hindustan Zinc’s Shiksha Sambal Programme reflect the positive impact of the initiative. Along with developing an interest in studies, students are receiving guidance and care from their mentors that resembles the support of parents, creating a home-like environment away from home. This nurturing atmosphere is proving invaluable in building a strong foundation for their future.

Under the Shiksha Sambal Programme, Hindustan Zinc is conducting summer training camps across six districts of Rajasthan—Udaipur, Salumber, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, and Ajmer—benefiting more than 1,600 students from government schools. The camps are designed to strengthen students’ understanding of Science, Mathematics, and English while also promoting their physical, intellectual, cultural, and overall personality development through a wide range of activities.

As part of the company’s continuous efforts to enhance student participation and holistic learning, the 9th Summer Camp is currently being organized. The inaugural session was held at Zinc School, Zinc Nagar. The event was attended by Chief District Education Officer Pramod Dashora, District Education Officer Rajendra Kumar Sharma, Programme Officer Nafees Ahmed, RCHO Dr. Priyanka Verma, Head – Corporate Affairs, Chanderiya Smelting Complex, Sundar Raj Naidu, and representatives from Vidya Bhawan, including Kamal Mahendru, Nahal Rajpal, and Neha Murdia.

More than 250 students have registered for this camp. In addition to academic learning, the programme places special emphasis on skill development, personality enhancement, sports, and cultural activities, helping students improve both their educational performance and personal capabilities.

Hindustan Zinc, in collaboration with Vidya Bhawan Society, Udaipur, has also formally launched its 9th Residential Summer Camp at Vidya Bhawan Senior Secondary School. The residential camp, running from May 20 to June 19, 2026, is attended by over 340 students seeking academic guidance for Classes 8, 10, and 12.

This year, six non-residential camps are being conducted at Chanderiya, Dariba, Debari, Kayad, Agucha, and Zawar, benefiting approximately 1,200 students. In addition, three residential camps in Udaipur are hosting students from all project locations, including around 240 Class 10 students, 50 Class 8 students, and 50 Class 12 Science students.

To make learning more engaging and future-oriented, this year’s residential camps include digital classrooms, audio-visual learning materials, hands-on activities, clay art, pottery, creative projects using waste materials, and emerging technologies such as robotics.

The success of the residential camp model, which was introduced on a pilot basis ten years ago, is evident from the steadily increasing number of participants each year. The programme’s unique strength lies in its innovative teaching methods and its focus on improving learning outcomes.

For nearly 20 years, Hindustan Zinc has been supporting students who face educational challenges through the Shiksha Sambal Programme. Along with academic instruction, the summer camps promote skill development, positive behaviour, sports participation, and cultural engagement, contributing to students’ overall personal and educational growth.

Under the programme, Hindustan Zinc also supports students from Classes 10 to 12 by facilitating the teaching of Science, Mathematics, and English in government schools where subject teacher vacancies exist. Through these residential training camps, students entering Classes 8, 10, and 12 receive instruction from expert educators, enabling them to develop a stronger understanding of these subjects through interactive and engaging teaching methods.

The initiative continues to play a significant role in empowering rural students with quality education, confidence, and opportunities for a brighter future.
