Slogans for Water Conservation Echo Across the District as Citizens Unite in Commitment

Udaipur: Under the State Government’s ambitious “Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign–2026,” various departments organized a series of activities related to water conservation and water resource enhancement across Udaipur district on Tuesday. Initiated under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, the campaign has been successful in promoting the conservation of water resources, raising public awareness, and transforming water conservation into a people’s movement.

As part of the campaign, a variety of programmes were conducted across the district under the guidance of District Collector Gaurav Agrawal. The Water Resources Department organized Jal Pujan (Water Worship) ceremonies at rivers, major and medium dams, lakes, and canals. In addition, canal and watercourse cleaning and desilting activities were carried out with the cooperation of Water Users Associations and farmers.

Special awareness programmes were organized by Water Users Associations to spread the message of water conservation. Through the “Catch the Rain” campaign and community participation initiatives, the department encouraged citizens to adopt rainwater harvesting practices and contribute actively to water conservation efforts. The department also conducted foundation stone laying ceremonies, inaugurations, inspections, and dedication of newly developed water-related infrastructure projects.

The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) provided technical guidance for the construction of rooftop rainwater harvesting structures in both rural and urban areas. The department also organized public awareness programmes promoting the judicious use of water and encouraging water-saving practices. Furthermore, water testing campaigns were conducted at various locations to assess drinking water quality and enhance public awareness regarding safe water consumption.

Meanwhile, the Ground Water Department reviewed activities being undertaken under the “Karmabhoomi Se Matrubhoomi Abhiyan” and organized events related to the inauguration of water conservation projects as well as approvals for new initiatives.

The programmes conducted under the campaign witnessed active participation from public representatives, government officials, Water Users Associations, farmers, voluntary organizations, and members of the general public, reflecting a strong collective commitment towards water conservation and sustainable water management.
