Geetanjali Dental Launches 15-Day Awareness Campaign on World No Tobacco Day

Udaipur: Marking World No Tobacco Day (May 31), Geetanjali Dental and Research Institute is conducting a 15-day tobacco awareness campaign from May 20 to June 6. The initiative aims to educate the public about the harmful effects of tobacco and promote the vision of a tobacco-free society.

As part of the campaign, awareness programs were organized at factories, de-addiction centers, and colleges, where participants were informed about the serious health risks associated with tobacco consumption, particularly oral cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and respiratory disorders.

Under the Tobacco-Free Campus Initiative, an awareness rally was conducted within the institute premises. Students and faculty members actively participated, spreading the message of a tobacco-free society. Patients were also educated about tobacco control measures and cessation techniques and were encouraged to pledge a tobacco-free lifestyle.

To extend the anti-tobacco message to the wider community in Udaipur, special awareness programs were broadcast through FM radio channels. These programs highlighted the harmful consequences of tobacco use and the benefits of quitting tobacco, helping to reach a broader audience.

As part of the initiative, all faculty members and students of the institute took an anti-tobacco pledge, committing themselves to stay away from tobacco and to raise awareness among others about its adverse effects. Patients visiting Geetanjali Dental Hospital were also encouraged to quit tobacco and participated in pledge-taking activities.

The campaign was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Balaji Manohar, Principal of the institute. Faculty members including Dr. Mridula Tak, Dr. Saurabh Singh, Dr. Shruti Sharma, and Dr. Tarun Mali played an active role in the campaign and reinforced the message of building a tobacco-free society.
