Pacific Medical University Plants Trees Under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign, Promotes Environmental Conservation

Udaipur: With the objective of creating a greener campus and promoting environmental conservation, Pacific Medical University (PMU) organized a plantation drive under the nationwide ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A Tree in Mother’s Name) campaign. More than 20 shade-giving and fruit-bearing saplings were planted across different parts of the university campus.

The plantation drive witnessed the participation of PMU President Dr. M.M. Mangal, PMCH Principal Dr. U.S. Parihar, Pro-President Dr. Sangeeta Chauhan, Vice Principal Dr. Monali, Head of the Department of Physiology Dr. Vinodini Varhade, Dr. R.K. Paliwal, along with heads of various departments and university staff members.

On the occasion, PMCH Executive Director Aman Agrawal and CEO Sharad Kothari emphasized that in view of global warming and changing climate patterns, tree plantation is no longer just a symbolic activity but a moral responsibility. They stated that Pacific Institutions have always remained at the forefront of social and environmental initiatives alongside healthcare and education.

They further highlighted that the institution aims to transform the entire campus into an eco-friendly and pollution-free environment, ensuring a healthy and clean atmosphere for patients, students, and staff members.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. M.M. Mangal said that the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is not only a unique initiative for environmental protection but also a heartfelt tribute to mothers. He remarked that just as a mother nurtures and cares for her children, nature sustains and nurtures life. A tree planted in a mother’s name will provide life-giving oxygen to future generations.

Dr. U.S. Parihar noted that the campaign would significantly contribute to increasing oxygen levels, reducing global temperatures, improving groundwater levels, and controlling pollution. He further explained that greenery is particularly important in hospitals and healthcare institutions, as trees not only purify the air but also positively impact patients’ mental well-being and aid in faster recovery.

As part of the campaign, the university community also pledged to make the Pacific Medical University campus greener, healthier, and completely pollution-free.
