MPUAT Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pratap Singh Dhakad Receives National Award

Udaipur: Dr. Pratap Singh Dhakad, Vice-Chancellor of the Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, has been honored with the prestigious “National Award for Arid-Zone Hydro-Agronomy and Water Harvesting” in recognition of his outstanding contributions to water conservation and dryland agriculture.

The award was presented during the Blue Economy Summit 2026 held in New Delhi by the Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment and the World Institute of Blue Economy.

Dr. Dhakad has played a significant role in promoting water conservation-based farming practices, micro-irrigation systems, rainwater harvesting structures, and resource conservation technologies for the benefit of farmers. He was recognized for his exceptional contributions to the scientific management of water resources in arid regions, the development and dissemination of rainwater harvesting technologies, enhancement of water-use efficiency, conservation of natural resources, and promotion of climate-resilient agricultural systems.

Currently, Dr. Dhakad is actively leading the “Jal Sanrakshan evam Khet Bachao Abhiyan” (Water Conservation and Save Farms Campaign) through MPUAT, working continuously to spread awareness and adoption of water conservation practices among farmers.

The recognition has brought pride and joy to the university community and the agricultural fraternity across Rajasthan. Faculty members, agricultural scientists, students, and farmers have congratulated Dr. Dhakad on this remarkable achievement.

This national honor is not only a matter of pride for MPUAT, Udaipur, but also for the entire state of Rajasthan, highlighting the region’s growing contribution to sustainable agriculture and water resource management.
