Udaipur: With the objective of promoting environmental conservation, sustainable development, and a plastic-free society, Rahda Foundation has launched an extensive campaign across Udaipur involving the distribution of saplings and eco-friendly cotton and jute bags. The initiative has emerged as a strong example of environmental awareness and community participation.
Under the leadership of Archana Singh Charan, Founder of Rahda Foundation, the organization has been carrying out noteworthy work in various fields, including tree plantation, plastic-free awareness campaigns, cow-dung log (Gaukashtha) production, water conservation, rural development, and women’s empowerment.
Believing that environmental protection is not solely the responsibility of government agencies but of every citizen, the foundation has been striving to transform environmental initiatives into a people’s movement. To date, Rahda Foundation has planted more than 35,000 saplings in different regions. Large-scale plantation drives have been undertaken in the Aravalli region, religious sites, public spaces, and rural areas. Special emphasis is also placed on the maintenance and protection of planted trees, ensuring increased greenery and improved ecological balance.
The foundation’s “No-Plastic Campaign” has received widespread public support. To raise awareness about the harmful effects of single-use plastic, Rahda Foundation has distributed over 20,000 cotton and jute bags. In addition, during recent months, more than 1,000 cotton bags and saplings have been distributed at various social, educational, and public events, and the campaign continues to expand. The organization actively encourages people to adopt reusable cloth bags and reduce plastic consumption, thereby promoting environmental conservation, cleanliness, and public health.
One of the foundation’s notable achievements is its “Gaukashtha-Based Environmental Model,” developed in collaboration with the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board. Under this initiative, eco-friendly logs and bricks are manufactured from cow dung and organic waste, providing a sustainable alternative to conventional wood. This model helps reduce tree cutting, promotes the utilization of organic waste, and supports cow conservation efforts. The foundation has also encouraged the use of Gaukashtha in the cremation of unclaimed individuals, reflecting its commitment to both environmental sustainability and humanitarian values.
Rahda Foundation remains actively engaged in rural development as well. Across several villages in southern Rajasthan, the organization conducts programs related to water conservation, sanitation, organic farming, waste management, and natural resource preservation. Through these initiatives, rural communities are being educated about environmental responsibility and encouraged to adopt sustainable lifestyles.
The foundation has also linked environmental conservation with women’s empowerment. Women are being trained and engaged in the production of eco-friendly products, plant conservation, nursery development, and green entrepreneurship, helping them achieve greater self-reliance. At the same time, young people are being encouraged to participate actively in tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, water conservation projects, and awareness programs, fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among the next generation.
Speaking about the organization’s vision, Founder Archana Singh Charan said that Rahda Foundation’s goal extends beyond merely planting trees or distributing bags. The objective is to transform environmental conservation into a sustainable, community-driven movement. The foundation remains committed to developing more green spaces, minimizing plastic usage, making rural communities environmentally self-reliant, and connecting women and youth with green development initiatives.
She further emphasized that environmental conservation has become directly linked to human survival in the modern era. Therefore, every individual must come forward to protect nature. Rahda Foundation continues to work toward this mission with a commitment to building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
