Sri Ganganagar: In compliance with the directions of the State Government, a three-day exhibition titled “12 Years of Trust, Development and Public Welfare”, highlighting the achievements of the Central and State Governments, was inaugurated on Friday by former Union Minister Nihal Chand and District Council CEO Girdhar through the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.
The exhibition showcases the major achievements accomplished during the 12-year tenure of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, presented through colorful photographs and informative displays. The exhibition will remain open to the public at the Information Centre during office hours until June 14, 2026.
After inaugurating the exhibition, former Union Minister Nihal Chand said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has reached new heights and enhanced its global standing. He stated that the country's economy has witnessed continuous growth, which is a positive sign for national progress.
He highlighted that the Central Government is providing free monthly food grains to 810 million economically weaker and needy citizens. Under the Har Ghar Jal (Jal Jeevan Mission) initiative, piped drinking water has been extended to approximately 160 million households, ensuring access to safe drinking water.
Nihal Chand further stated that more than 40 million permanent houses have been provided to economically weaker families under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, fulfilling the dream of home ownership for millions who previously lacked adequate housing.
Speaking about women’s empowerment, he noted that more than three crore women have become “Lakhpati Didis” through various livelihood and self-reliance initiatives. He also highlighted major development projects in Rajasthan, including the approval of ₹79,459 crore for the state’s refinery project and the approval of Jaipur Metro Phase-II.
He informed that the Ramjal Setu Project, with an estimated cost of ₹91,300 crore, has been approved to provide irrigation and drinking water facilities to citizens across 17 districts of Rajasthan. According to him, the project represents a significant gift to the people of the state and will fulfill a long-standing aspiration of residents in the region.
Nihal Chand also outlined several key national initiatives undertaken over the past decade. He stated that more than 58 crore Jan Dhan bank accounts were opened to bring economically weaker sections into the formal banking system and provide them access to financial services. He noted that domestic LPG connections were extended to over 11 crore families, while more than 60 crore beneficiaries received healthcare coverage under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
He further mentioned the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir in 2019 and highlighted the government’s response during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which more than 220 crore vaccine doses were administered free of cost.
Referring to recent milestones, he stated that India successfully hosted the G20 Summit in 2023 for the first time as President of the grouping. In 2024, the consecration ceremony of the Shri Ram Temple was held in Ayodhya. He also noted that in 2025 India emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economy, surpassing Japan.
