A Mother’s Voice Will Soon Echo in a Silent World

Five-Year-Old Mohammad Ali Receives Free Cochlear Implant; PMCH Chairman Rahul Agrawal Extends Financial Support

Udaipur: Five-year-old Mohammad Ali will soon be able to hear his mother’s lullabies and call her “Ammi” for the first time. For a child who has lived in silence since birth, PMCH Hospital has proven to be nothing short of a blessing. Thanks to timely medical intervention and financial assistance, a future once overshadowed by uncertainty has now been transformed into one filled with hope and possibility.

When Mohammad Ali was born in Sirohi, his family celebrated his arrival with immense joy. However, as he grew older, his parents became concerned. By the age of two, they realized that he did not respond to sounds and was unable to speak.

In search of treatment, his economically struggling parents visited several major hospitals in Ahmedabad and Jaipur. Doctors informed them that their son required a cochlear implant, a specialized hearing device that could restore his ability to hear. However, the procedure would cost nearly ₹10 lakh—an amount far beyond the family's financial means. Unable to arrange such a large sum, their hopes gradually faded.

The turning point came when the family approached PMCH Hospital. Deeply moved by the child's condition and the family's hardship, PMCH Chairman Rahul Agrawal stepped forward with compassion and determination. He resolved that a lack of financial resources should not deprive the child of a normal future and decided to provide financial assistance for the costly cochlear implant procedure.

Following this support, the hospital’s expert medical team immediately initiated the treatment process. The complex surgery was successfully performed by a team led by Dr. S.S. Kaushik, Cochlear Implant and ENT Surgeon; Dr. Richa Gupta; Mentor Cochlear Implant Surgeon Dr. Navneet Mathur; and Dr. Prakash Audichya from the Department of Anaesthesia, along with their dedicated medical team.

After the successful operation, Mohammad Ali’s parents were overwhelmed with emotion. Tears of joy filled their eyes as they expressed heartfelt gratitude to the hospital management and doctors.

“We had no money for our child’s treatment. We had almost lost hope. Rahul Agrawal Sir and the doctors have given our son a new life. Now our child will be able to hear and speak like other children,” they said.

Speaking about the outcome, Dr. S.S. Kaushik confirmed that the surgery was completely successful. He explained that Mohammad Ali will now undergo specialized speech and hearing therapy to help him learn to listen and communicate. With continued rehabilitation, he is expected to attend school, interact with others, and lead a normal, fulfilling life like any other child.

The successful cochlear implant has not only restored the possibility of hearing but has also given a young child and his family a new beginning—one filled with sound, speech, and hope.
