Acharyas Adorn 400 Devotees with Moksha Malas Following a Magnificent Procession

Grand Conclusion of 47-Day Upadhan Tap at Abu Delwara

Sirohi: The 47-day Upadhan Tap, one of the most revered and rigorous spiritual practices in Jainism, concluded on Saturday at the 995-year-old Adinath Jain Tirth with the ceremonial adorning of Moksha Malas to 400 devotees.

The sacred event was conducted under the spiritual guidance of Acharya Hemvallabhsuriji Maharaj and Acharya Mahendrasagarji Maharaj, following traditional Jain scriptures and rituals. Hundreds of Jain devotees from across the country gathered at Delwara to witness the culmination of this spiritually significant observance.

A grand procession marked the final day of the event, with all 400 tapasvis (practitioners of austerity) participating alongside monks, nuns, and members of the Jain community. The procession began from Air Force Circle and passed through the town's main streets amid devotional chants, traditional musical performances, and enthusiastic celebrations.

Devotees dressed as Indras and Indranis, accompanied by drums, ceremonial bands, and devotional hymns, created a vibrant spiritual atmosphere. The procession concluded at the temple complex, where devotees and community members warmly welcomed and honored the tapasvis for their dedication and perseverance.

Moksha Mala Ceremony Conducted with Traditional Rituals

Upon reaching the temple premises, the Moksha Mala Mahotsav commenced with auspicious sermons, prayers, and Vedic-style recitations by the revered Acharyas. The ceremonial adorning of Moksha Malas was then performed according to traditional Jain rituals, symbolizing the successful completion of the spiritual journey undertaken by the participants.

A Symbol of Intense Spiritual Discipline

Upadhan Tap is regarded as one of the most demanding forms of Jain spiritual practice. During the 47-day observance, participants follow strict vows of discipline, self-restraint, silence, meditation, scriptural study, and devotion aimed at inner purification and spiritual upliftment.

The final-day Moksha Mala ceremony is considered equivalent in significance to a spiritual initiation, providing devotees with the opportunity to receive blessings directly from the Acharyas. Family members and relatives also participate in honoring the tapasvis, celebrating their commitment and spiritual accomplishments.

The Upadhan Tap was organized in memory of Smt. Sajan Devi and Shri Ugamchandji Bagmar by the Bagmar family of Keshkal and Raipur, along with support from a devotee family that chose to remain anonymous.

Organizers Express Gratitude

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Upadhan Tap coordinator Vishal Bhai expressed special appreciation to Gordhan Singh for his dedicated efforts in managing the arrangements throughout the 51-day event period.

Representatives of the beneficiary Bagmar family honored Pankaj Gandhi, Parasmal Sanghvi, and local trustee Dilip Doshi with mementos and floral tributes. The trust also felicitated philanthropists Suresh Kumar Bagmar and Usha Devi Bagmar for their contribution to the event.

A notable aspect of the Upadhan Tap was the enthusiastic participation of children, youth, and women, who spent 47 days undergoing spiritual training akin to the disciplined lifestyle of Jain monks and nuns, engaging in prayer, meditation, austerity, and devotion to attain greater spiritual awareness.
